Job description

The Resource Center has been providing services to persons with disabilities in the Chautauqua County area since 1958. From our humble beginnings as a gathering of parents and concerned citizens who wanted to provide educational and training opportunities for persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, The Resource Center has grown into a comprehensive agency providing services to thousands of persons with all types and levels of disabilities.
The Resource Center is the largest non-governmental employer in Chautauqua County with more than 1,300 employees on its payroll.
The mission of The Resource Center is to support individuals with disabilities and other challenges in achieving maximum independence, contributing to their community, experiencing lifelong growth, and enjoying quality of life.
PRODUCTION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Superintendent
FUNCTION: Primary responsibility is to maintain and service all equipment needs of the assigned production division; assists with production operations including fixture and training aid fabrication. Assists with training and supervision on production floor as required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
TECHNICAL:
  1. Helps maintain a system for routine and repetitive and preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations and production equipment requirements.
  2. Sets up new equipment and performs an operational walk-through with new equipment.
  3. Maintains and services production equipment, both preventative and emergent, including all production sewing machine requirements.
  4. Fabrication of production and/or adaptive fixtures used in manufacture.
  5. Responsible for all day-to-day electrical and mechanical maintenance work; may also include limited carpentry and electrical work.

ADMINISTRATIVE:
  1. Assists in the investigation and purchase of production machinery and equipment within the facility.
  2. Works with TRC Maintenance Department to ensure all jobs within production area are completed as designed and to specification.
  3. Participates in plant Safety Committee.
  4. Maintains preventative and daily maintenance records for machinery within area of responsibility.
  5. Maintains appropriate levels of replacement parts for machines.

SUPERVISORY:
  1. Supervises production workers as required in absence of supervisor, including but not limited to:
    a. direction of production requirements
    b. scheduling of work as required
    c. participating in disciplinary actions
    d. approval of time off requests.

OTHER:
  1. Performs all other related duties as needed or assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good working knowledge of mechanical repair and electrical diagnostics; demonstrated skill in identification and troubleshooting with regard to mechanical and electrical equipment; ability to problem solve and work independently; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to read drawings, both mechanical, and electrical; knowledgeable in HVAC and air compressor maintenance and air delivery systems. Must be able to work with others, both management and non-management, within and outside of the organization. Willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours as needed or assigned to ensure that production deadlines are met. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and five (5) years experience in the maintenance field. Experience in an industrial sewing environment strongly preferred.
Note: Formal technical training in electrical or mechanical maintenance may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
