What you will doAs a Research & Development (R&D) Technician, you will provide hands-on technical support to engineers and scientists across a variety of medical device development projects. In this role, you will work both independently and cross-functionally to support product development, testing, and process improvement. Additionally, you will:
- Perform analytical testing using techniques such as MicroCT, SEM, DSC, and other material characterization methods to support product development and failure analysis
- Prepare samples, operate laboratory instrumentation, and ensure proper calibration and maintenance of analytical equipment in accordance with lab standards
- Interpret and document analytical results, correlating findings to material performance and supporting technical decision-making
- Organize, coordinate, and execute the testing of prototypes and products based on engineering instructions
- Assist technical evaluations to determine root cause and corrective actions for issues
- Assist project teams in establishing specifications, quality standards, and testing methods
- Support development of standard procedures, methods, and technical documentation
- Communicate technical information clearly through written reports and verbal updates
- Support bench fixturing and tooling design for testing and development activities
- Apply technical knowledge to support process development, tooling improvements, and automation initiatives
- Support data analysis and interpretation using basic statistical and engineering tools
- Train team members in new processes, test procedures, and equipment
- Act as a resource and technical support for cross-functional teams
- Actively participate in project team meetings and support execution of project deliverables
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards and quality requirements
What you needRequired- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of technical experience in medical device development or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting prototype builds, testing, or engineering-driven projects
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data tracking and reporting
- Hands-on experience operating analytical lab equipment and tools such as FTIR, DSC, SEM, or similar materials characterization tools
Preferred- Associate's degree, Technical Certificate, or equivalent technical training
- 5+ years of experience in R&D of medical device, electronics, aerospace or similar regulated environment
- Familiarity with industry standards related to material testing and characterization (e.g., ISO, ASTM)
- Experience with bench fixturing and tooling design
- Hands-on experience with medical-grade polymers, metals, and composites
- Exposure to multiple analytical techniques and sample preparation methods (e.g., DSC, FTIR, SEM/EDX, optical microscopy, MicroCT, grinding/polishing, acid etch)
- Familiarity with statistical and engineering tools (e.g., Gage R&R, DOE, SPC, stress/strain analysis, image analysis)
$31.91 - $43.79 USD Hourly
Travel Percentage: 10%
