Job description

Stryker Combat Vehicle Mechanic

Location: Ft Hood, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract | Hours: 40+ hours/week
Pay Range: $30.76 per hour


About the Role

Join a team supporting one of the U.S. Army's premier combat vehicle platforms. As a Stryker Combat Vehicle Mechanic, you'll perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on the Stryker Family of Vehicles to ensure maximum operational readiness. This role is ideal for mechanically skilled professionals who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting and working in both shop and field environments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot faults, failures, and deficiencies on the Stryker Family of Vehicles.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) in accordance with technical manuals.
  • Diagnose and repair powertrain systems, including engines, transmissions, cooling, fuel, exhaust, driveline, and suspension components using Built-In Test Equipment (BITE), specialized tools, and Manual Troubleshooting Procedures (MTPs).
  • Repair and replace Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), subsystems, and components by disassembling, replacing defective parts, reassembling, adjusting, and testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems common to Stryker vehicles and vehicle-specific variants.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, diagnostic procedures, and troubleshooting flow charts.
  • Complete maintenance records, administrative documentation, and repair reports accurately.
  • Maintain accountability of tools, test equipment, and company property.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications to support maintenance documentation and reporting.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience performing maintenance on military or heavy tactical vehicles.
  • Documented trade school, technical certification, or commercial mechanical training.
  • Ability to interpret Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), schematics, and vehicle configuration documentation.
  • Ability to identify and understand turret system and LRU-related terminology.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to gain and maintain access to military installations.
  • Must meet and maintain applicable ASR requirements.
  • Must be willing to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) as required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience maintaining Stryker vehicles or similar military combat vehicles.
  • Military maintenance experience in MOS such as 91B, 91S, 63S, 63W, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with military maintenance procedures and terminology.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior technicians.
  • Knowledge of military vehicle systems and maintenance operations.
