Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Assurance Engineer to serve as the independent quality gate for customer-facing applications. Development teams use agentic workflows to implement changes and create unit, integration, API, and UI tests. The QA Engineer collaborates with product stakeholders and developers to approve the work items are ready for development, based upon the organization’s definition of ready. During the sprint, the QA Engineer independently evaluates the completed work item, confirms the automated testing provides meaningful evidence, performs risk-based manual and exploratory testing, and identifies regressions that developer testing may have missed. The QA Engineer then serves as the quality gate to accept/deny the work items completion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to groom work items, size, and approve for development based upon definition of ready standards.
  • Validate software enhancements, features, and bug fixes against business requirements, and definition of done standards.
  • Employ approved agentic workflows to accelerate quality assurance practices and execute day-to-day activities including test planning, exploratory-test design, requirements analysis, investigation, and documentation.
  • Serve as the quality gate, accepting/denying work items in a sprint.
  • Own the QA environment, promoting builds from Development to QA for testing validation.
  • Utilize automation to execute functional, regression, negative, and end-to-end test cases.
  • Review automated test results and identify coverage gaps, regressions, and quality risks.
  • Execute risk-based manual testing for critical workflows.
  • Document software defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
  • Collaborate with developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders throughout the Agile development lifecycle.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on software quality assurance experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
  • Experience working in Agile, sprint based SDLC cadence with typical ceremonies
  • Experience independently validating customer-facing web, mobile, and windows applications.
  • Strong functional, exploratory, regression, negative, and boundary-testing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate requirements and acceptance criteria into effective test cases.
  • Experience making and defending evidence-based accept-or-reject decisions.
  • Ability to use AI coding agents or demonstrated aptitude for agent-assisted workflows.
  • Ability to investigate unfamiliar or poorly documented legacy applications.
  • Experience writing clear, reproducible, and actionable defect reports.
  • Working knowledge of SPA web applications, REST APIs, relational databases and modern identity management.
  • Familiarity with automated UI-testing concepts and frameworks such as Playwright.
  • Experience with API-testing tools such as Bruno or Postman.
  • Experience using browser developer tools for network, console, and client-side investigation.
  • Experience testing mobile applications.
  • Working knowledge and use of Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD test results.
  • Strong written communication, critical thinking, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Confidence raising quality concerns and blocking acceptance when requirements are not satisfied.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk for at least 50% of the time.
  • Be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access office equipment and other resources.
  • Be able to operate a computer and related software for a prolonged period, and use office productivity equipment, such as a calculator, copier, and printer.
  • Be able to engage in repetitive motions, such as typing and using a mouse.
