PSE's Growth Strategy team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Senior Project Manager position!

Job Description

The Growth Strategy team at Puget Sound Energy is accountable for enabling beneficial customer growth through innovative grid integration solutions that deliver customer value while ensuring reliability, affordability, and progress toward clean energy goals. This work is complex and highly cross-functional, and it will require us to move with urgency while staying grounded in the fundamentals.  

The Growth Strategy Team is looking for a seasoned Senior Project Manager to help translate growth opportunities into executable plans with alacrity and focus. This work will require cross-enterprise coordination with customer engagement, engineering, system planning, resource planning, regulatory, policy, legal, operations, transformation strategy, and other teams. The right candidate will bring strong project management skills, enterprise thinking, clear communication and presentation skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority. Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes actionable plans that translate growth opportunities into measurable business outcomes.

  • Facilitates team alignment by clearly defining project scope, priorities, timelines, and cross-functional interdependencies.

  • Coordinates and integrates customer, planning, and infrastructure workstreams to optimize resource allocation and delivery.

  • Identifies, assesses, and manages project risks and benefits through proactive monitoring and transparent communication.

  • Streamlines and standardizes processes to improve efficiency, speed, and consistency across operational functions.

  • Provides leaders with timely, comprehensive, and decision-ready information to support strategic and operational decisions.

  • Assembles and leads multi-disciplinary project teams.  Identifies the scope of an assigned project and decides logical action to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Applies general rules, standards and guidelines to specific technical problems.
  • Recognizes technical issues that impact the projects under their leadership, and obtains resources to mitigate project risks.
  • Communicates technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences, sometimes in public settings.
  • Gathers, consolidates and analyzes facts in relation to project requirements.
  • Responsible for schedule and budget development, management and forecasting.
  • Support emergency response work as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • At least eight years relevant project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills and techniques, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Ability to write clear, concise and direct narrative and reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of team management techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in scheduling, estimating, accounting and finance principals.
  • Extensive experience with utility methods, techniques and procedures involved in budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
  • Strong knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple medium to high complexity projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of techniques used to involve community members in development of project affecting their community.
  • Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented and collaborative attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.
  • Leadership skills that can energize a multidisciplinary work team to respond to business needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of project management principles, processes and techniques, applied in a utility setting.
  • Advanced Project Management Training and Project Management or Construction Management Certification from an accredited institution (PMI or College) Continuing Education appropriate to the profession.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Additional Information

Sr. Project Manager – Major Projects

  • Projects may involve new construction, upgrades, uprates and modifications of the electric distribution and transmission system; substations; gas pipelines, district regulators and other gas facilities. 
  • Projects also include the addition of new generation facilities and modifications and upgrades to existing facilities.

The pay range for this position is $108,200.00 - $180,200.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
