Job description

The Laminator Assistant provides critical support to the lamination process by assisting the Laminator Operator in the preparation, execution, and maintenance of lamination operations. This role is essential in ensuring efficient production flow, maintaining quality standards, and supporting overall manufacturing excellence while adhering to safety protocols. The position requires attention to detail, strong teamwork skills, and the ability to perform various tasks related to material handling and equipment maintenance. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure personal and team safety by following all safety protocols and procedures while assisting in machine operations and material handling processes

  • Prepare and manage printed rolls for primary unwind and back stock rolls for secondary unwind, ensuring proper positioning and alignment for efficient production

  • Execute accurate roll placement in machines and prepare materials for splicing operations on both primary and secondary unwinds, maintaining consistent material flow

  • Support the Laminator Operator in achieving production goals through effective teamwork and communication during all phases of operation

  • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of *adhesive and cold seal wet materials, ensuring continuous availability for production needs

  • Remove and accurately weigh startup rolls at the beginning of each job, maintaining proper documentation of weights and measurements

  • Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of NIP rolls during setup and downtime periods to ensure optimal equipment performance

  • Conduct daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment according to company standards

  • Remove and accurately weigh waste materials from all unwinds or rewinds as required, maintaining proper waste management procedures

  • Assist in maximizing changeover effectiveness by working collaboratively with the Laminator Operator and maintaining efficient workflow processes.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred

  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus

  • Demonstrated stable work history

Required Skills:

  • Basic computer literacy

Additional Requirements:

Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to climb, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, stretch and squat

  • Manual dexterity for handling materials and tools

  • Use of ladders and other equipment

  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks

Travel Requirements: None

Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:

  • Noise levels above 85 dB

  • Operation of complex machinery

  • Fast paced production environment

  • Solvents, fumes and inks

  • Variable Temperatures

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts

  • May require overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (6pm - 6am).
