Summary
Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking an Engineer Systems to support modernization and integration efforts for the Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) training environment under the Joint Staff J7 contract. This role supports the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) and JLVC Modernization initiatives, enabling cutting edge training capabilities for Joint Force and Combatant Command (CCMD) exercises.
What You Will Do
• Support integration of modernization technologies into JLVC enabled Joint Force and CCMD training events.
• Collaborate with the MITT team to provide technical insights and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain awareness of emerging training technologies, simulations, and modeling tools, and assess applicability to JLVC environments.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement to ensure modernization efforts reflect operational user feedback and requirements.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing technology insertions across live, virtual, and constructive training environments.
• Translate technical capabilities into operationally meaningful use cases aligned with training objectives.
• Identify technical gaps, risks, and dependencies associated with integrating new technologies into existing JLVC architectures.
• Support rapid prototyping, testing, evaluation, and demonstration of new capabilities during exercises.
• Coordinate with highly tasked technical planning teams to reduce integration workload and streamline processes.
• Contribute to technical documentation, briefings, and reporting for decision makers.
• Support education, training, and adoption of new capabilities across stakeholders and end users.
What You Must Have
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within 45 days of hire.
• Hands on experience with simulation, modeling, and training systems in a DoD or joint operational environment.
• Working knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, including requirements analysis, system integration, testing, and lifecycle management.
• Experience coordinating across multi disciplinary technical teams to support system development and integration activities.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Proficiency supporting technical documentation and briefings for engineering or program stakeholders.
• Experience working in Linux-based development or test environments.
Preferred Requirements
• Experience with Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) environments or large scale distributed training architectures.
• Familiarity with Combatant Command (CCMD) training processes, exercise planning cycles, and associated technical requirements.
• Experience supporting MITT or similar modernization/technology transition initiatives.
• Knowledge of distributed simulation standards and interoperability frameworks (HLA, DIS, TENA).
• Experience integrating emerging or prototype technologies into operational or training architectures.
• Background in defense innovation, rapid prototyping, experimentation, or capability development.
• Understanding of Joint Force training systems, operational data flows, and system to system integration patterns.
• Experience applying Agile or DevSecOps practices in a systems engineering or integration environment.
