As aHardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Engineerwithin General Motors'AV Core Infrastructure team, you will design, build, andmaintainadvanced HIL systems that accelerate validation of embedded controllers andperceptionsystems across next-generationvehicles.You'llbridge mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines to deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable test infrastructure enabling data-driven developmentof automated driving features.

You will collaborate with systems engineers, embedded software developers, integration labs, and operations teams to ensure our HIL platformsremainat the forefront of validation capability-powering the test flywheel that drives GM's future of safe, autonomous mobility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and sustainmodular HIL systems for ECU and subsystem validation across multiple vehicle platforms.

  • Developscalable rack-based test solutionsintegrating power distribution, network infrastructure, and environmental management for high-availabilityoperations.

  • Collaborate cross-functionallywith Systems, Firmware, and Validation Engineering to define I/O mappings, harnessing, and test configurations.

  • Deploy automation and monitoring systemsfor bench health, including power cycling, network diagnostics, and logging infrastructure.

  • Drive lab capacity expansion projects, including facility layout, power/network planning, and thermal management.

  • Continuouslyinnovateto improve efficiency, reusability, and modularity across the HIL fleet; contribute to design libraries and shared tools.

  • Completebenchbring up, parts ordering, and integration of components ranging from boards tosensors.

  • Support flashing and configuration changes and develop preventative maintenanceprocessesto ensure bench fleet health.

  • Be hands on the ground for rapid responses to benchrelatedissues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering-or equivalent hands-on experience in HIL, lab automation, or robotics integration.

  • 4+ years of experience in design, integration, and maintenance of hardware validation systems or HIL infrastructure.

  • Familiarity withECU harnessing, power systems, and signal integrity best practices.

  • Competence withLinux CLI, networking (Ethernet, switches, VLANs), and power distribution.

  • Proven record ofcross-functional collaboration, vendor management, and hands-on debugging of complex electromechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building ormaintaininglarge-scale HIL or test automation systems supporting multiple ECUs or vehicle domains.

  • Familiarity withPython,CAN/LIN tools (Vector,Kvaser, etc.), and test automation frameworks.

  • Experience withthermal and EMI management, system grounding, and rack-level cable routing.

  • Knowledge of lab operations, EHS compliance, and facility management.

Compensation:The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paidin accordance withapplicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positionslocatedoutside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is$184,100 to $230,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentivepayprogram offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
