Job description

Manager, Strategic Sourcing

As Manager, Strategic Sourcing, you will play a key role in shaping the sourcing strategy for our Consumables segment, driving operational excellence, strengthening supplier partnerships, and supporting business growth. This position leads a global team of sourcing professionals and collaborates closely with cross-functional partners across Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Management, and Quality. You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, develop talent, and help build resilient, high-performing supply networks that support better healthcare outcomes. The role oversees approximately $110M in annual spend and a global network of 70+ suppliers through a team of four sourcing leaders located across North America, Europe, and Asia. This position reports directly to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, Monitoring Solutions and serves as an integral member of the Patient Care Solutions leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and support a global team of sourcing leaders in developing and executing sourcing strategies for the Consumables portfolio.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment that encourages growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner effectively across global regions and functions to align sourcing priorities with business objectives.

Supplier Strategy & Risk Management

  • Proactively identify and assess supply chain risks and work with business partners to develop and implement mitigation plans.
  • Evaluate, select, and onboard strategic suppliers for new product introductions (NPI) and supplier transfer initiatives.
  • Ensure suppliers are prepared to meet business requirements related to quality, fulfillment, cost, and cash objectives throughout program milestones.
  • Build long-term supplier partnerships that create value for both the business and supplier communities.

Cost, Quality & Operational Excellence

  • Drive year-over-year product cost improvements of 6%+ through supplier negotiations, cost optimization initiatives, and collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
  • Support logistics cost reduction initiatives while maintaining a total-cost-of-ownership perspective.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality teams to promote supplier compliance with FDA, environmental health and safety (EHS), transportation, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support initiatives that improve supplier and component quality across the product lifecycle.

Supplier Performance & Business Results

  • Establish strong supplier relationships and negotiate long-term agreements that support business goals and sustainable supplier performance.
  • Lead supplier lifecycle activities, including installed base support, supplier performance improvement initiatives, last-time-buy (LTB) activities, and claims management.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Delivery teams to achieve supplier on-time delivery performance targets of 95% for the Consumables segment.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in Engineering, Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading teams, projects, or initiatives; formal people leadership experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to influence and partner effectively across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Experience improving supply base performance across quality, fulfillment, cost, cash, and contract management metrics.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams while establishing clear priorities and direction.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading global or multi-regional teams.
  • Experience developing and managing supplier relationships, contracts, and negotiations.
  • Experience supporting the development and production of medical devices or regulated products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience leading programs, projects, or large-scale initiatives.
  • Experience planning, documenting, promoting, and executing strategic programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, analytical tools, pivot tables, and Oracle.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
