Job description

The Graphic Design Meteorologist will work with the graphic development teams at AccuWeather, including on website/apps, the AccuWeather network, AccuWeather for Business, Marketing and Subscription teams, to ensure that AccuWeather has the best graphics available in the market and that they are constantly reviewed and improved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Systematically review all graphics at AccuWeather and work with graphic teams to develop improvements and updated standards.
  • Review proposed changes with the AccuWeather leadership for buy-in, then work with the teams to implement
  • Graphics included are maps used on our myriads of products and outlets as well as how data is displayed on them. Putting together a small team of meteorologists and designers at AccuWeather will allow this position to move forward with more velocity and understanding of the reasoning why some maps or displays have been the way they are…allowing the best decisions to be made and for prioritization of workload.
  • Bring increased use of AI to develop maps, graphs, charts and the like for communication and displays on our properties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Meteorology.
  • 2+ years of experience in working with design of weather maps and displays
  • Understanding of weather data, its formats and forecast models is highly desirable
  • Understanding what can be done in Baron's will be beneficial.
  • Experience using AI for graphic creation a plus
  • Strong analytical thinking and communication skills—able to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment as well as with a team to achieve the best results. Ability to multi-task while staying detail oriented.
