You will partner with our Professional Services team to implement products such as CourtView, JWorks, eServices, and ShowCase, and provide second-level support to customer IT departments once systems are in production. It is a hands-on individual-contributor role spanning Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, Java application servers, and AWS, with much of the work delivered as billable customer engagements. You will work closely with R&D, Technical Services, and Security to keep environments healthy, performant, and recoverable, and to build and maintain infrastructure that supports equivant's security and compliance controls, including the CJIS Security Policy and the AICPA Trust Services Criteria for SOC 2.Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain the infrastructure for equivant's court case management applications across the technology lifecycle, including Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, and Java application servers (Apache Tomcat, WildFly, WebLogic)
- Build and operate application hosting environments in AWS and on-premises, including compute, storage, networking, Active Directory, and high-availability and disaster recovery configurations
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot equivant-developed software applications, working at the seam between application behavior and the underlying infrastructure
- Proactively monitor and maintain infrastructure platforms, performing health checks, patching, upgrades, and firmware updates to keep systems secure and performant
- Conduct capacity planning and right-size compute, storage, and database resources to meet current and future demand
- Partner with the Professional Services team to scope and execute customer implementations, delivering much of this work as billable engagements
- Diagnose and resolve incidents across hosted and on-premises court environments, including server and application outages, service hangs, and capacity issues
- Troubleshoot integration points where applications meet infrastructure (web and application servers, SMTP and mail relay, e-filing, and CMS interfaces)
- Partner with R&D on application architecture, deployment, and troubleshooting to improve how equivant applications run in hosted and on-premises environments
- Apply server hardening and security configuration standards based on industry best practices and the control frameworks equivant operates under (CJIS Security Policy, SOC 2)
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational standards; coordinate change and incident management through equivant's ITSM processes (Jira)
Qualifications
- 5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure administration, or a related role, with hands-on Windows Server and Active Directory experience (Group Policy, DNS, DHCP)
- Proficiency in system administration across both Linux and Windows
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and IIS in production
- Experience with AWS core services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC/networking, IAM) and building or operating hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
- Experience installing, configuring, and administering a broad range of infrastructure platforms: virtualized compute (e.g., Hyper-V), high-availability and disaster recovery designs, storage, and network and security integration
- Familiarity with Java application servers (Apache Tomcat, WildFly, or WebLogic)
- Relevant industry certification or equivalent hands-on experience, such as AWS (AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate) or Microsoft Windows Server (Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate)
- Competency with scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar)
- Familiarity with security control frameworks such as the CJIS SecPol, NIST CSF, ISO 27001
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability, a customer-facing orientation, and excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences
- The selected candidate must be able to complete vetting required by the FBI CJIS Security Policy and any applicable state or agency requirements, including fingerprint-based background investigation
- Possible travel (approximately 5%)
- Participate in on-call rotations and support after-hours incident response as needed

- Experience operating applications in AWS, including multi-account environments
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk)
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD tooling
- Familiarity with backup tooling such as Veeam, and with enterprise storage and network hardware (Dell, Cisco)
- Experience with the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy
