Cvent Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Technical Support Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Support Engineer, you need a strong foundation in troubleshooting, computer networking, and system diagnostics, often supported by a degree in IT or computer science. Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote desktop tools, and certifications like CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are commonly required. Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving abilities help you resolve issues effectively and build positive customer relationships. These skills ensure timely resolution of technical problems, customer satisfaction, and smooth operation of technology systems.

How does a Technical Support Engineer typically collaborate with other departments to resolve complex customer issues?

Technical Support Engineers frequently work cross-functionally with teams such as development, quality assurance, and product management to resolve complex technical problems. When an issue cannot be resolved through standard troubleshooting, engineers escalate cases and share detailed findings with these departments. This collaboration ensures that customer feedback is communicated, bugs are addressed, and permanent solutions are implemented. Regular meetings and clear documentation are essential for smooth teamwork and successful problem resolution.

What does a Technical Support Engineer do?

A Technical Support Engineer helps customers and clients troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to products or services. They provide assistance via phone, email, chat, or in person, and may also guide users through installation, configuration, and maintenance processes. In addition to solving immediate problems, Technical Support Engineers often document solutions, escalate complex issues, and work with development or engineering teams to resolve deeper technical challenges. Their goal is to ensure customer satisfaction by delivering effective and timely support.

Our Culture and Impact
Cvent is a leading meetings, events, and hospitality technology provider with more than 5,500+ employees and ~30,000 customers worldwide, including 60% of the Fortune 500. Founded in 1999, Cvent delivers a comprehensive event marketing and management platform for marketers and event professionals and offers software solutions to hotels, special event venues and destinations to help them grow their group/MICE and corporate travel business. Our technology brings millions of people together at events around the world. In short, we're transforming the meetings and events industry through innovative technology that powers the human connection.
Cvent's strength lies in its people, fostering a culture where everyone is encouraged to think like entrepreneurs, taking risks and making decisions confidently. We value diverse perspectives and celebrate differences, working together with colleagues and clients to build strong connections.
AI at Cvent: Leading the Future
Are you ready to shape the future of work at the intersection of human expertise and AI innovation? At Cvent, we're committed to continuous learning and adaptation-AI isn't just a tool for us, it's part of our DNA. We're looking for candidates who are eager to evolve alongside technology. If you love to experiment boldly, share your discoveries, and help define best practices for AI-augmented work, you'll thrive here. Our team values professionals who thoughtfully integrate AI into their daily work, delivering exceptional results while relying on the human judgment and creativity that drive real innovation.
Throughout our interview process, you'll have the chance to demonstrate how you use AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact. If you're excited to be part of a team that's leading the way in AI-powered collaboration, we'd love to meet you.
Cvent is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Principal Engineer to help shape the platform behind our event and hospitality SaaS business. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role for an engineer who thrives at: setting architectural direction, solving complex platform challenges, and creating leverage across teams through strong technical judgment, automation, and platform design.
In This Role, You Will:
Lead the evolution of secure, scalable, and highly automated AWS infrastructure that supports both customer-facing applications and the internal platforms our engineering teams depend on to build and operate software at scale. You will influence the long-term direction of our cloud foundation, advance self-service infrastructure capabilities, and drive modern engineering practices across a global organization.
You will play a key role in expanding our AWS-based platform, including serverless workflows for account provisioning, IAM automation, and core database and storage services. You will also help identify practical opportunities to apply generative AI to improve developer productivity, internal tooling, and operational efficiency.
In addition, you will:
  • Set architectural direction for core cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities across a multi-account, multi-region AWS environment
  • Build and improve internal cloud platforms and self-service workflows that accelerate delivery while strengthening governance and reliability
  • Develop automation using technologies such as AWS Step Functions, AWS Lambda, AWS Systems Manager, Python, TypeScript, and Chef
  • Build infrastructure-as-code solutions with AWS CDK to standardize and streamline cloud deployments
  • Partner closely with Security, Database, Enterprise Services, and SRE teams across the US, Canada, and India to solve complex cross-functional infrastructure challenges
  • Provide senior technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and hands-on problem solving
  • Identify and implement practical uses of generative AI to improve internal tooling, automation, and speed of execution

This role blends deep technical execution with strategic leadership. A typical allocation is:
  • 25% hands-on engineering and automation development
  • 25% code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance
  • 25% architecture, planning, and cross-team technical leadership
  • 25% operational support and partnership with internal customers

Here's What You Need:
  • 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and/or Security Engineering
  • Strong experience building automation, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure tooling using Python, TypeScript, or similar languages
  • Proven experience designing and operating AWS infrastructure in high-scale, multi-account, multi-region production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technically through influence, architectural clarity, and strong engineering judgment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, stakeholders, and leadership at multiple levels
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across distributed or global teams and helping raise the technical bar of an organization

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building infrastructure-as-code solutions using AWS CDK, ideally with TypeScript
  • Hands-on experience with serverless architectures and AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, and related platform components
  • Experience with configuration management and systems automation using tools such as AWS Systems Manager, Chef, or Ansible
  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux environments in enterprise-scale infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure administration
  • Experience using Active Directory and Group Policy to manage access and system configuration
  • Experience building or improving internal developer platforms, self-service tooling, or cloud governance frameworks
  • Experience evaluating emerging technologies and translating them into practical platform improvements

On-Call and Work Model
Because Cloud Infrastructure supports a 24x7x365 environment, this role participates in an on-call rotation. Our global team structure is designed to make this sustainable: the rotation is typically one week approximately every six weeks, with daytime coverage shared across regions and handoff to our India team overnight.
This role follows our current hybrid schedule:
  • Work from home on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday
  • Work in the office on Wednesday and Thursday

This is an opportunity to influence the cloud foundation of a large-scale SaaS platform at principal depth. You will help define how infrastructure is built, secured, automated, and consumed across the organization, while partnering with experienced engineers who care deeply about reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
If you are motivated by platform strategy, large-scale cloud architecture, and building systems that enable other engineers to move faster, we would love to hear from you.
Hybrid: 2 days in office
We are not able to offer sponsorship for this position
