Job description

If encouraging high school students to go to college is something you want to do, we have the job for you. Ivy Tech is looking for a College Connection Coach to work with the Vanderburgh County schools.
The primary goal of the College Connection Coach is to establish relationships with high school students in order to encourage and assist students toward enrollment in college and persistence toward degree completion. The College Connection Coach will plan and implement outreach services and dual credit opportunities in Vanderburgh County.
The Coach will provide college and career support to high school students who are seeking employment or a four-year degree upon completion of a Technical Certificate or Associate Degree. Will work with Academic Affairs on coordinating dual credit opportunities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for student recruitment byidentifyinghigh school juniors, seniors, or graduates who are college-bound.

  • Provide one-on-one coaching that supports college attainment and career exploration and complements services that may be available through high school, college, or the community.

  • Utilize community resources that support student access and success in college.

  • Develop andconveneregularly scheduled small group sessions for students throughout the academic year. These sessions are structured as informal group check-ins and as workshops designed to help students navigate the college environment, access resources, and build a network of peer support. (i.e.program specific groups, financial aid workshops, ACT & SAT information, ACCUPLACER information)

  • Enroll students in dual credit courses, input SAT/ACT scores, input GPA, etc.

  • May provide support for employer partnerships.

  • Coach students on the transitions from high school to college to work.

  • Implement student career workshops, which may involve on-campus activities, tours, industry visits, and other experiential learning opportunities.

  • Develop and deliver annual orientation for new student participants and a summer series of college preparation and team building workshops.

  • Maintainsaccuraterecords and collects and enters required information and case notes for each student in the coaching cohort, including regularly updated student contact information, and academic progress. Develops required reports.

  • Participate in ongoing tracking of outcomes, evaluation of services, and program development as part of the postsecondary team and the EVSC.

  • Must stay current with Ivy Tech programs, admission and registration processes, career and higher education trends, and requirements of the Indiana Department of Education.

  • The Coach will attend Ivy Tech meetings, trainingsessionsand otheractivitiesas necessary.

Work Hours:

  • Flexibility required with some evening and Saturday duties.

Hiring Range:

  • $35,000-$45,000 annually based on experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2-4 years related experience in advising, career counseling, recruiting, or other studentservice relatedjob.

  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Proven ability toinitiateand balance multiple work projects.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in K-12 or college-level preferred. Training, or teaching experience with young adults preferred.
