Job description

At Collective Health, we're transforming how employers and their people engage with their health benefits by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology, compassionate service, and world-class user experience design.
The Provider Servicing team is developing integrations with our partners to provide a better experience for our Providers. Ensuring providers receive accurate information they need to provide care and process claims. Information integrity and accuracy is critical and so is providing this information in a secure and timely manner. We are leveraging proven technologies to accomplish this. Collective Health is building modern health management systems, these integrations are a critical part of that.
As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for the ownership and management of Provider Servicing systems. This includes developing new AI-powered solutions and providing support for existing microservices-based applications and integration platforms. Opportunities for growth involve leading an engineering team, gaining exposure to new technology adaptations, and contributing to the company's evolution into a future healthcare platform.
What you'll do:
  • Design and develop scalable, secure, and configurable platform services for the Provider Servicing Team.
  • Lead backend development and support of services across backend (Java/Spring Cloud) and integration platforms (Mulesoft and others)
  • Utilize working knowledge of AI-powered developer tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) and actively contribute to AI adoption in development and operational aspects.
  • Build and enrich APIs and data services to integrate with partners.
  • Collaborate with product managers, operations analysts, customer advocates in building solutions that helps Providers integrate with our platform.
  • Understand architectural decisions and actively drive reusable patterns for cloud-native, AI-enabled backend systems.
  • Lead and mentor other engineers in the team and help them succeed.
  • Actively work with the operations and customer advocates to create efficient processes through automations to improve SLAs.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Experience: 10+ years as a Backend Engineer
  • Backend Engineering: Strong proficiency in Java & Spring Cloud, with a deep understanding of microservices architecture and Integration platforms
  • AI Tools: Regular use of AI-enhanced development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, WindSurf).
  • Cloud: Extensive experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS/Google Cloud Platform preferred).
  • Data: Hands-on experience in data architecture, SQL/PostgreSQL, and developing data-intensive services.
  • Systems Development: Prior experience in building, launching, and maintaining complex systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, and product managers, to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills across all levels and teams.
Pay Transparency Statement
This is a hybrid position based out of one of our offices: San Francisco, CA, Plano, TX, or Lehi, UT. Hybrid employees are expected to be in the office two days per week.#LI-hybrid
The actual pay rate offered within the range will depend on factors including geographic location, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
