Job description

At Collective Health, we're transforming how employers and their people engage with their health benefits by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology, compassionate service, and world-class user experience design.
As a Lead Data Analyst, you will be the primary technical lead for our most significant clients and a driving force behind our team's data and analytics excellence. You will move beyond standard reporting to lead complex analyses, with AI first mentality serving as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders by translating healthcare claims data into clear, actionable narratives. This role is designed for a self-starter who thrives in high-pressure environments, capable of leading high-priority projects with tight turnaround times, who can navigate sophisticated data landscapes, lead by example, and deliver high-impact presentations that influence decision-making.
What you'll do:
  • Lead Strategic Reporting & Delivery: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of analytics for leadership and key stakeholders. You will ensure that high-impact reporting is not only delivered on schedule but is strategically aligned with clinical and financial objectives.
  • Direct Client Analytics Partnership: Serve as the primary analytics lead for top-tier client requests. You will move beyond requirement gathering to act as a consultant, designing solutions that solve complex healthcare business challenges and presenting these insights directly to key partners.
  • Technical Excellence & SQL Mentorship: Establish and uphold the standards for data integrity by leading peer code reviews. You will provide expert guidance on SQL optimization, complex logic validation, and adherence to rigorous data governance and compliance standards.
  • Advanced Project & Knowledge Management: Oversee the reporting roadmap and project lifecycle via Jira and Confluence. You will ensure transparent communication of project statuses, maintain technical documentation, and proactively identify risks to delivery timelines.
  • Key Stakeholder Communication: Act as the "voice of the data" for key stakeholders. You will translate dense healthcare findings into compelling narratives and high-level presentations, bridging the gap between technical complexity and business-critical decision-making.
  • Rapid Impact Assessment: Lead high-priority routine and ad-hoc analyses, including internal and external audits for clients delivering insights in accelerated timeframes when required.
  • Architectural Gatekeeping: Identify bottlenecks in the data lifecycle and partner with Data Engineering and Data Architect to move to automated, scalable solutions.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in healthcare analytics, with a specific emphasis on analyzing healthcare claims data, population health, and member experience.
  • Analytical Rigor: Strong critical thinking skills and a resourceful approach to professional development. We value candidates who take ownership of their learning, possess a high degree of initiative, and are committed to delivering results through diligent effort.
  • Strong critical thinking: resourcefulness, initiative, and ownership of professional development are valued. Candidates must be committed to diligent effort and delivering results.
  • Agility and Learning Velocity: Proven track record of mastering new data environments and complex healthcare schemas with minimal training.
  • Automation Mindset: Experience replacing manual hand-offs with automated triggers or self-serve tools.
  • Systemic Problem Solving: Proven ability to look across a portfolio of requests and identify the underlying data commonality to maximize impact of every tool or dashboard built.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the claims lifecycle and nuances involved with reporting logic.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven ability writing and optimizing SQL queries and experience building visualizations/models in Looker (or comparable tools like Tableau).
  • Industry Context: Experience working directly with health care claims and or member experience data at a payer provider, tech company, TPA, or Point Solution.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in Agile tools like Jira for task management and Confluence for process documentation.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to non-technical stakeholders, and non-technical issues effectively to technical stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related quantitative field (or equivalent professional experience).
