Sous Chef

An established and growing Savannah restaurant group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team.

We're looking for someone who combines strong culinary fundamentals with leadership, organization, and a genuine desire to develop people. This is not a position for someone who wants to manage from the sidelines. Our Sous Chefs are expected to be present in the kitchen, lead by example, and work alongside their teams during service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef or an exceptional senior cook who is ready to take the next step into kitchen leadership.

For the right individual, there is significant opportunity to grow into Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef, and broader culinary leadership roles as our restaurant group continues to expand.

What We're Looking For

Our ideal Sous Chef understands that running a great kitchen requires much more than being a great cook.

You should be able to lead a busy service, develop cooks, maintain standards, organize production, identify problems before they become emergencies, and hold yourself and your team accountable.

Ideal candidates will have:

• 3+ years of experience in quality full-service restaurant kitchens

• Previous leadership experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Line Cook, or similar role

• Strong culinary fundamentals and knife skills

• Ability to confidently work and lead multiple stations

• Experience in high-volume service

• Strong understanding of prep, production, and mise en place

• Knowledge of inventory, ordering, receiving, and proper product rotation

• Understanding of food cost, waste control, portioning, and recipe execution

• Strong sanitation and food-safety standards

• Ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• A calm, solutions-oriented approach during demanding services

• Dependability, professionalism, and a strong sense of ownership

Responsibilities

Working alongside the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team, the Sous Chef will help oversee the daily operation of the kitchen, including:

• Leading and supervising BOH employees during service

• Maintaining food quality, consistency, and presentation standards

• Managing daily prep and production

• Ensuring stations are properly set and prepared for service

• Training and developing cooks

• Assisting with ordering, receiving, and inventory

• Monitoring waste, portioning, and product utilization

• Maintaining recipe and plating standards

• Assisting with scheduling and labor management

• Maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organization, and sanitation

• Conducting line checks and identifying deficiencies before service

• Communicating maintenance, staffing, product, and operational concerns

• Assisting with menu development and specials

• Supporting hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management

• Working stations and supporting the line whenever necessary
