Job description

GENERAL MANAGER
Under the direction of the District Manager, the General Manager oversees the daily operations of a convenience store /gas station.
Responsible for all employment and personnel, merchandising, inventory control, financial management and cash handling, and controlling loss prevention. The General Manager will provide leadership and direction to ensure excellent customer service and efficient and cost-effective operations. The position requires professional-level abilities to apply a wide range of store administration and management activities to make the store functional and efficient.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be added to, changed, or deleted at the sole discretion of management.
  • Exercises broad independence in providing oversight, management, and direction of the overall operational activities of the gas station/convenience store.
  • Ensure high-quality customer service.
  • Provides scheduling and supervision of employees.
  • Ensure consistent, compliant, and profitable operations at the station, with the goal of increasing profits over time
  • Interacts and compares shops with multiple vendors for food, drinks, tobacco products, and merchandise.
  • Implements and maintains inventory control systems, ensuring appropriate stock levels to meet daily needs.
  • Monitor fuel levels and any alarms.
  • Promotes monthly sales and specials based on Store objectives to achieve sales targets.
  • Manage customer complaints and oversee the resolution of these complaints.
  • Ensure that all local, state, and federal requirements for the lawful operation of the gas station are met by all employees and customers. Ensure that safety protocols required for gas stations are always followed.
  • Ensure that security protocols, such as maintaining small amounts of cash on premises, are always followed.
  • Encourages, assists, and trains employees to become a motivated sales force and meet Store goals through regular on-the-job training, staff meetings, walkthroughs, and audits.
  • Directs the preparation of all required and appropriate reports for payroll, bank deposits, auditing functions, etc., and ensures they are prepared in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reviews all reports to analyze and improve projections of sales and profits to meet budget targets.
  • Helps coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of the store, ensuring safe and sanitary conditions of all public/private areas.
  • Improve employee productivity/customer service, maintain, and increase revenue, create and manage expenses according to inventory/payroll budgets and always ensure positive customer experiences.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures regulating tobacco and alcohol products.
  • Ensures compliance with all stores operating policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends and requires open availability.

EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED; some college preferred; Previous convenience store/gas station experience desirable. Must be at least 18 years of age.
