Job Description

Description This position is responsible for technical insight and engineering documentation prepared for implementation for the design, installation, placement, testing and maintenance of new and emerging technologies.


Core engineer provides engineering services and project management functions required to develop, implement & maintain large, extremely complex networks; provides technical leadership and mentoring to other engineering team members in day-to-day activities. Interfaces regularly with business units and serves as technical SME. Projects include those that have major technology changes within the platforms and have new implementation guidelines and/or standards.

(Adtran TA5000 DSLAM, Calix C7 DSLAM, Calix E7 Ethernet Aggregator, ALU 1850's, 7750's, A to E transitional devices, Bits Clocks, Central Office Lineup, Rack, & Power Management, NNet routers, DWDM, CWDM, SONET, FW9500) This position is responsible for all facets of Network Core engineering and installation from non-complex work orders to the most complex work orders.

This includes but is not limited to: * Conduct site surveys to verify equipment locations, cable routing and verify other critical assignments. * Equipment layouts, design drawings, written instructions, cable running list, and installation sequences for central office engineering. * Develop and report standard engineering intervals including lead times for equipment delivery and installation.

Performs workload estimates. Develops milestone schedules based on customer required service dates, material availability, functional intervals and required service dates. *

Designing Core facilities to meet requirements for transmission engineering according to telephony standards The incumbent is expected to monitor inside plant facilities and growth patterns and issue appropriate routine work orders to ensure effective operation of facilities and installation and/or rearrangement of new facilities that follow the strategic migration plans.

Responds to natural disasters affecting facility equipment that ensures decisions are made to replace or repair damaged plant as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience * 6-8 years of experience with ISP/OSP * Experience with mulitple programs including TIRKS, Fireworks, Bidmaster, SAP etc.
