Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Center / Central Office Fiber Technician to support nationwide network modernization and site consolidation projects. This role focuses on fiber optic installation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer migration activities within active Central Office (CO) and Data Center environments. Candidates must be comfortable traveling extensively and working independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship. We don't hire C2C.

Data Center Technician Qualifications

  • 3+ years of fiber optic telecommunications experience.
  • Experience working in Central Offices, Data Centers, Carrier Hotels, or telecommunications facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber installation, routing, dressing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient using OTDRs, fiber scopes, and optical power meters.
  • Strong ability to interpret OTDR results and identify fiber impairments, macro bends, and high-loss events.
  • Ability to read fiber routing diagrams, network drawings, and site documentation.
  • Experience supporting fiber migrations and network cutovers.
  • Knowledge of DWDM, SONET, and Ethernet networks is preferred.
  • Experience supporting Lumen, CenturyLink, Level 3, AT&T, Verizon, or other carrier environments is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in raised floors, overhead raceways, and confined spaces.

Data Center Technician Qualifications

  • Support customer and network migrations from legacy facilities to new network locations.
  • Install, route, trace, label, and document fiber optic cabling.
  • Perform fiber testing using OTDRs, fiber scopes, and optical power meters.
  • Analyze and interpret OTDR test results to troubleshoot fiber issues.
  • Verify circuit integrity before, during, and after migration activities.
  • Support migration planning and maintenance window cutovers.
  • Maintain accurate testing records, migration documentation, and daily reports.
  • Coordinate with engineering, network operations, and project management teams.
  • Support limited equipment decommissioning and asset documentation when required.
  • Follow all safety procedures while working in active telecommunications environments.
