Operations Technician

Air Products is currently seeking an Operations Technician to join its Ocotillo, AZ manufacturing site, which includes two large-scale Air Separation Units (ASUs), an Oil-Free Air (OFA) system, and a Hydrogen Electrolyzer.

The Operator is responsible for the safe, day-to-day operation of all onsite equipment while adhering to Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality Standards. The role requires completion of required training and successful participation in scheduled validation reviews to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products to customers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust plant process conditions using operating equipment and valves.
• Maintain electronic logbooks and complete routine inspections, log sheet readings, and water treatment tasks.
• Troubleshoot process upsets using indicators and DCS trends.
• Calibrate and operate process and pipeline analyzers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor equipment adjustments; submit maintenance requests as needed.
• Issue safety work permits and perform lockout/tagout activities.
• Support liquid bulk delivery systems and storage tank operations.
• Inspect work areas for mechanical issues, safety hazards, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
• Ensure compliance with all plant safety procedures and participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Maintain required online training and assist with reviewing and updating operating procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous work and/or military experience
• Electrical, instrumentation, or mechanical maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs) preferred
• Experience with personal computers and/or DCS systems
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and a mandatory on-call rotation
• This is a safety-sensitive position

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift 50 lbs.
• Be available during mandatory call-in requirements as scheduled.
• Elevated work required.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
