BASIC FUNCTIONS : Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff and District Director, the Office Assistant will serve in the District office as a full-time Office Assistant. Responsibilities include greeting and interacting with visitors, answering the telephone, managing incoming mail and email, logging requests received for certificates, resolutions, budget appropriations, letters of support, ordering supplies, and other general support functions. Applicants must be organized, proficient with Microsoft Office and PCs, and be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment.
DUTIES: The Office Assistant will perform general office administrative duties in support of the Senator and the District Office team. Punctuality, poise, and attention to detail are required. The Office Assistant must maintain hours Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in addition to working a flexible schedule, as needed.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE : Strong oral and written communication skills are essential in addition to proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer applications) and PCs. Familiarity with legislative culture and process is preferred. Bi-lingual capability is desirable.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: High School Degree required.
An AA or Bachelor's degree is desirable. If applicable, please submit proof of degree with your application documents.
The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment; be self-motivated to work as part of a team on behalf of the Senator; and work extended hours when necessary. Applicants must be organized, detailed, and able to work well with others.
LOCATION, SALARY AND FILING DATE : This position is located in Redlands, CA and requires in person attendance .
The Senate's core business hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and may require after hours, holiday, or weekend work.
Final salary will be commensurate with experience and education. Seniority and significant experience are required to reach the higher end of the salary range.
