JOB DESCRIPTION:

Project Manager - Java J2EE

Long Beach, CA

Full Time (Permanent) Position

Qualifications Basic :

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.

At least 7 years of experience with IT.

At least 7 years of hands on software development and maintenance experience in IT industry, 3 or more years related experience in project management.

Experience managing IT projects in J2EE technologies for new development, maintenance and production support.

Hands on experience in customer IT application development and maintenance.

Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and implement multiple, large and complex technical projects.

Ability to manage portfolio of projects.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making.

Experience in working in Agile and Iterative Development methodologies

Experience and desire to work in a Global delivery environment

Good Knowledge of CMMi Processes.

Ability to co-ordinate with customer team on a day to day basis.

Ability to build and nurture relationship with various customer stakeholders.

Excellent project stakeholder management skills.

Ability to lead and mentor a team of 10 to 20 developers in achieving project goals.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills :

Drive projects through all SDLC phases, from initial definition and estimation, through to production delivery and support.

Deliver projects on time, within budget, with quality results that meet customer expectations.

Follow consistent best practices for project management, and drive process enhancements in collaboration with the team and other project managers in IT.

Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure projects are planned and prioritized to meet business needs.

Develop detailed project schedules, project estimates, resource plans, status reports, tracking and reporting progress.

Proactively manage scope, issues and risks to ensure project success. Follow change control procedures effectively.

Knowledge of architectural frameworks and design principals, provide inputs to the technical architecture, development team and conduct design reviews.

Support the team in developing optimized high quality deliverables, perform reviews in order to meet the defined quality SLAs.

Mange client relationships at the portfolio/project level by engaging them regularly and be the 'Single Point of Contact' for the client.

Perform periodic project reviews, milestone reviews and relationship review with customer stakeholders.

Reviewing staffing/expansion requirements for the current projects and planning/ training team members for projects.

Mentoring team members and identifying training needs to build domain/ technical competency.

Monitoring performance of team members and conducting performance reviews.

Proactively identify opportunities for expanding footprint of services.

Support on pre-sales campaign activities and events.

Additional Qualifications Preferred:

PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)

Certified Scrum Master (CSM)

Analytical skills

Experience and desire to work in a Global delivery environment.
