We are seeking a Principal Experience Design Engineer, AI Frameworks, to join the Applied Intelligence design team in the Experience Foundations organization of the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) Division.We are bringing the power of AI agents to our customers design problems while simultaneously rapidly evolving the way we design and develop ourselves.

This strategic design engineering role is focused on building an AI design framework that scales across the Autodesk platform.This role is also responsible for creating standards, processes and best practices that help up-skill our design team while acting as a liaison to our partnered engineering teams, optimizing for quality and speed.

Working closely with Design and Engineering, you will help drive our shift toward AI-augmented design development, utilizing coding agents to create production-ready functional components that can be deployed at scale. This role will report to a Sr. Manager, Design Technology, AEC.

Responsibilities

  • Develop adaptive, context-aware UI components that scale across agentic workflows

  • Architect and maintain a modular framework that supports personalized and agent-assisted user experiences

  • Act as a liaison between the design team and our stakeholders, including engineering, product managers, architects, and other cross-functional partners

  • Establish scalable processes that speed delivery from prototype to deployable solutions

  • Coach designers and troubleshoot their challenges as they become more proficient with AI-augmented development

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack development

  • Experience creating and maintaining reusable UI components and component libraries

  • AI Tooling Fluency: Demonstrated "must-have" experience using Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, or equivalent LLM-based coding agents to deliver complex features

  • Expert React & TypeScript: Deep proficiency in React Hooks, state management (Zustand, Redux, or Context), and component-driven design

  • Experience leading the architecture and development of large-scale web applications, including performance optimization, accessibility, responsive design, and modern UI engineering practices

  • Proficiency in Software Development practices, including version control, testing, and debugging

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining component libraries

  • Experience designing agentic or AI-assisted interaction components

  • Experience shaping design systems that support complex workflows

  • Experience mentoring designers and elevating technical capabilities within a team

  • Experience establishing cross organizational methods and practices

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,000 and $191,400. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
