Position Overview

As a Visual Experience Designer (VXD), you will help create intuitive, beautiful, and cohesive product experiences that delight customers and support Autodesk's design standards. Working closely with Visual Designers, Interaction Designers, UX Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers, you will contribute to product experiences across web, desktop, and emerging platforms.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about visual design, eager to learn modern product design practices, and excited to grow within a collaborative design organization. You will apply design system standards, create high-quality visual assets, and develop your skills in product thinking, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality visual design deliverables including UI mockups, icons, illustrations, presentations, and production-ready assets

  • Apply Autodesk Design System standards and established design patterns to ensure consistency and usability across experiences

  • Collaborate with UX Designers and Engineers to translate concepts, wireframes, and requirements into polished user interfaces

  • Support the creation and maintenance of reusable design components and visual assets

  • Participate in design critiques, workshops, and team reviews, incorporating feedback into design iterations

  • Contribute to prototypes and design explorations that help communicate ideas and validate solutions

  • Work closely with teammates to understand customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints

  • Stay current with design trends, tools, accessibility considerations, and industry best practices

  • Continuously improve craft skills in visual design, communication, and product design execution

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or equivalent practical experience

  • 0-2 years of professional experience in visual design, product design, UX design, or related fields

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong visual design fundamentals and attention to detail

  • Understanding of typography, color, layout, hierarchy, and visual composition.

  • Familiarity with modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar

  • Basic understanding of user-centered design principles and digital product design

  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and receive feedback constructively

  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to learn from others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design systems and reusable UI components

  • Experience creating interactive prototypes and validating design concepts

  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles

  • Knowledge of motion design, illustration, or iconography

  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and modern web application concepts

  • Experience working in collaborative or cross-functional team environments

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design and product development workflows

  • Experience using AI-powered tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable, Vercel v0, Stitch, Pencil, or similar platforms to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, content generation, research synthesis, and collaboration

  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to adopt emerging AI technologies to improve design quality, productivity, and customer outcomes

  • Understanding of the opportunities and limitations of generative AI in user experience design, visual design, and product development

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $77,000 and $112,200. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
