Job description

The Role
AspenTech is looking for a talented and experienced Developer to join our Enterprise Operations Platform (EOP) organization. In this role, you will be a senior technical contributor within an Agile development team responsible for delivering next-generation industrial software solutions. You will help drive the implementation of strategic platform capabilities, provide technical guidance to team members, and collaborate closely with Architects and product stakeholders to deliver a software-defined, data-centric platform that enables automation for AspenTech's diverse customer base.
As a member of the EOP development team, you'll work on cutting-edge industrial edge-connectivity and distributed-computing projects that surface data from the plant floor all the way to the cloud. The team focuses on building highly performant data services that securely move and manage massive volumes of information. You'll help create solutions that configure, contextualize, analyze, and visualize data, making it easily accessible to a wide range of applications. The EOP platform supports multiple operating systems and serverless cloud-native technology stacks, giving the team opportunities to work across a diverse set of modern technologies.

Your Impact
  • Serve as a senior technical resource within a scaled Agile organization, providing mentorship, design guidance, and technical expertise across complax initatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Architecture teams to translate high-level system designs into scalable, maintainable implementations.
  • Design high-quality, reliable, performant, and fault tolerant systems to meet strategic business objectives.
  • Drive system-level qualities such as scalability, reliability, performance, and security in alignment with platform requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and implementation guidance within an Agile development team.
  • Monitor, support, and maintain software products in an Agile development environment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Debug integration and performance problems.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability and collaboration across a variety of support, development, security, and product teams.
  • Continually demonstrate adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices around cloud native and Software-as-a-Service technologies.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills as a participant in a variety of Agile ceremonies.

What You'll Need
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8-12 years of related experience OR an advanced degree with less experience.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, services, architecture, and container orchestration.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Practical, experience with several of the following:
  • Databases: MongoDB, Postgres, MSSQL
  • Programming Languages: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Python, Lua
  • Frontend JavaScript Technologies: Angular, React
  • Continuous Integration: Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions
  • Cloud & DevOps: Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm, Terraform
  • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux
  • Observability and Monitoring: OpenTelemetry
  • Automated testing frameworks: Playwright
  • Identity and access management: OAuth 2.0, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Architecture Expertise: Microservices, REST API Design
  • Data platforms and integrations: Inmation, Aveva PI Connect, Microsoft Fabric
  • Working experience in the following areas:
  • Infrastructure as Code Technologies (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
  • CI/CD Platforms (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines)
  • Artifact Management & Security Scanning tools(Artifactory, Blackduck, Snyk)
  • GitOps tools (Flux, ArgoCD) and promotion models
  • Basic knowledge of IoT or Edge devices and an understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, constraints, and risks.
  • Experience with Agile development frameworks such as SAFe or Scrum.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, applying strong project-management discipline and driving complex technical intitiatives in fast-changing environments.
  • Proven experience providing architectural direction, elevating engineering standards, and mentoring developers to strengthen overall technical maturirty.
  • Deep proficiency in object-oriented design and advanced debugging techniques, with track record of resovling complex, system-level technical challenges.
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and solutions while honoring and supporting the ideas of others.
  • Passionate about finding creative solutions to problems, and pride in well-crafted code.

The salary range for this role is $127,000.00 - $158,700.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
