Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.


Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Providing guidance, support, and motivation to team members, fostering a productive work environment based on the Company values and behaviors of safety and quality, people focus, trust, ownership, and innovation
  • Drive individual and team performance through the established Performance Management System (PMS)
  • Recognize and celebrate accomplishments, goals/objectives, etc.
  • Will manage purchased direct parts
  • Ability to lead and manage a Team up to 20 employees

Operational Management:

  • Managing daily activities within the area of responsibility, ensuring smooth workflows and timely execution of tasks
  • Develop and monitor annual budget and spend

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, acquiring necessary and timely information, and monitoring performance
  • Conduct supplier program reviews and supplier visits to ensure demand alignment

Inventory Management:

  • Ensuring optimal inventory levels to meet demand while minimizing costs and waste

Logistics Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the Logistics Organization on the movement of goods, including part prioritization to ensure efficient delivery of material to the site and work areas

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyzing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) – On time part delivery, on time supplier delivery, part shortages (focus on Category 3 and 5), Kit fill rate, Lines of Balance (LOB), etc.

Process Improvement:

  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency within the supply chain
  • Thinking outside the box to achieve quantum performance leaps

Problem Solving:

  • Addressing and resolving issues that may arise in the supply chain, such as delays, disruptions, or quality issues
  • Develop advance warning signals to mitigate potential issues
  • Master Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) process

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Working closely with other departments including operations, program, quality, and finance, to ensure alignment and effective coordination

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in as a Supply Chain Professional and/or Management experience in a production environment
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles and practices: This includes logistics, procurement, inventory management, and demand planning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers, team members, and other stakeholders
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions
  • Leadership and team management skills: Ability to motivate and guide team members to achieve common goals
  • Negotiation and contract management skills: Ability to negotiate favorable outcomes and terms with suppliers
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools: Experience with supply chain management systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Experience working with multiple cross functional groups
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience presenting to and interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effect change
  • Knowledge of MRP systems, SAP preferred

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain or other relevant course of study MBA or Master’s Degree
  • Knowledge/experience with manufacturing and manufacturing processes
  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP or other industry certification
  • Governance and Compliance background including experience with AS9100 or other external audits.
  • Experience in Aerospace
