DIRECTOR OF FINANCE


Join the team at Cascade Hotel Kansas City, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, and Aloft Kansas City Country Club Plaza, a dual-branded hotel complex located in the heart of the Country Club Plaza. Together, these properties feature nearly 300 guest rooms, over 15,000 square feet of event space, multiple food and beverage outlets, and distinctive guest experiences rooted in hospitality, service, and excellence.

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and collaborative Director of Finance to join our Executive Leadership Team and oversee the financial operations of both Cascade Hotel and Aloft Kansas City Country Club Plaza. This position serves as the primary financial leader and strategic business partner across the dual-hotel operation, working closely with ownership, General Managers, and department leaders to drive profitability, accountability, and long-term success.


Position Summary


The Director of Finance (Dual Hotel) is responsible for the overall financial health, integrity, and performance of both Cascade Hotel Kansas City and Aloft Kansas City Country Club Plaza. This role provides strategic financial leadership while overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, cash flow, and compliance across both properties.


The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality finance professional who can translate complex financial information into actionable business insights, influence operational decisions, and build strong partnerships across multiple departments and leadership teams. This position requires a high level of integrity, sound judgment, analytical ability, and the confidence to serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and hotel leadership.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Leadership & Strategic Planning


Serve as the primary financial advisor to the General Managers and Executive Leadership Teams for both hotels.
Develop and execute strategies to improve profitability through financial analysis, cost/benefit evaluation, and identification of revenue opportunities across both properties.
Lead the development and execution of annual operating budgets and business plans for the dual-hotel operation.
Prepare accurate financial forecasts and monitor actual performance against budget and forecast.
Analyze financial results, identify trends and business drivers, and provide actionable recommendations to hotel leadership.
Evaluate labor forecasts and staffing plans to support efficient operations and responsible wage management.
Partner with department leaders across both properties to improve financial accountability and operational performance.
Identify opportunities to control costs while maintaining service quality and the overall guest experience.
Support capital planning and evaluate the financial implications of property investments and operational initiatives.


Finance & Accounting Operations


Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions for both hotels.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly financial statements, P&L reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Review financial transactions for appropriate account coding, expense timing, and revenue recognition.
Ensure accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of hotel revenue and expenses across both properties.
Ensure applicable taxes are properly accrued, recorded, and filed.
Prepare and submit required financial reports in accordance with ownership, brand, and regulatory deadlines.
Monitor working capital, cash flow, and overall liquidity across the dual-hotel operation.
Review audit results and ensure appropriate corrective actions are completed.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with company and brand standards.
Establish consistent financial practices and reporting expectations across both properties.


Leadership & Team Development


Lead, coach, and develop the finance and accounting teams supporting both hotels.
Establish clear goals, expectations, and accountability standards.
Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing professional development.
Ensure new finance associates complete orientation and required job training.
Promote cross-training and operational flexibility across the dual-hotel finance operation.
Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a role model for professionalism and ethical financial practices.


Stakeholder & Owner Relations


Represent both hotels in ownership meetings, financial reviews, and business planning discussions.
Clearly communicate financial performance, opportunities, risks, and recommendations to ownership and hotel leadership.
Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable business insights for non-financial leaders.
Partner closely with the General Managers and Executive Leadership Teams to align financial strategy with operational priorities.
Support department leaders across both properties in understanding financial results and improving departmental performance.
Maintain strong working relationships with ownership, corporate leadership, hotel leadership, associates, and external partners.


Compliance, Controls & Risk Management


Maintain strong internal controls designed to safeguard hotel assets and reduce financial risk across both properties.
Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, SOPs, LSOPs, lease agreements, and contractual requirements.
Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audits for both hotels.
Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and implementation of corrective actions.
Monitor compliance with financial policies and procedures across both properties.
Protect confidential financial, associate, guest, and company information.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications


Required:


Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of finance or accounting experience, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
Strong financial acumen and ability to interpret complex financial data.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and P&L management.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to influence and partner effectively with leaders at all levels of an organization.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities across a dual-hotel operation.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.


Preferred:


Hotel or hospitality finance experience.
Experience with Marriott financial systems and processes.
Experience with ProfitSword and/or LightSpeed.
Multi-property or multi-unit hospitality finance experience.
Previous experience working directly with hotel ownership or corporate leadership.
Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.


Schedule Requirements


Primarily a daytime leadership position with flexibility based on business needs.
Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
