We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Millwork Engineer to lead the technical engineering and development of high-end custom millwork projects. This role is responsible for transforming architectural concepts, field conditions, and client requirements into precise, production-ready engineering packages that support seamless fabrication and installation.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in custom architectural millwork, advanced drafting, and manufacturing processes, with expertise in cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, hardware, joinery, CNC production, and installation. This is a senior technical engineering position focused on design-for-manufacturing, with project coordination experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering and technical development of custom architectural millwork projects from design through fabrication and installation.
  • Produce and review detailed shop drawings, production drawings, cut lists, bills of materials, and fabrication documentation.
  • Translate architectural drawings, design intent, field measurements, and specifications into accurate, buildable manufacturing packages.
  • Engineer custom cabinetry, architectural casework, closets, countertops, wall paneling, specialty woodwork, and other custom interior components.
  • Evaluate projects for constructability, manufacturability, material selection, hardware integration, joinery, and installation requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, designers, drafters, CNC programmers, production personnel, installers, and shop leadership.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, fabrication challenges, and production issues before manufacturing begins.
  • Support CNC programming, nesting, material optimization, and production planning.
  • Ensure all engineering packages meet quality, manufacturing, and installation standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to CAD designers, drafters, and junior engineering staff.
  • Assist with quality assurance throughout engineering, fabrication, and field installation.
  • Develop and improve engineering standards, drafting procedures, workflows, and technical best practices.
  • Recommend practical engineering solutions for complex custom millwork applications.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork engineering, technical design, or millwork drafting.
  • Strong background in high-end residential, luxury custom homes, or premium architectural interiors.
  • Extensive experience engineering custom cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, and specialty millwork.
  • Advanced proficiency creating production-ready shop drawings and fabrication documentation.
  • Strong understanding of CNC manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and woodworking production workflows.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or similar millwork engineering software.
  • Ability to interpret architectural plans, construction documents, specifications, and field measurements.
  • Thorough knowledge of millwork materials, hardware, joinery, woodworking techniques, fabrication, and installation.
  • Experience collaborating directly with manufacturing teams to resolve technical and production challenges.
  • Previous experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to designers, drafters, or engineers is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting production schedules and deadlines.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $110,000-$130,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Opportunity to work on luxury residential and custom architectural millwork projects.
  • Senior-level technical leadership role with significant influence over engineering standards and production.
  • Collaborative, craftsmanship-driven work environment.
  • Long-term career growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Stable pipeline of high-end custom millwork projects.
