About St. Paul Academy and Summit School:
St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus . The school draws students from St. Paul, Minneapolis, and throughout the eastern and western suburbs.

Status: Part-Time Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM (On days school is in session during the academic year)

Salary Range: $17/hour
The Middle School After School Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the after-school program on the Randolph Campus. This position is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and structured environment for middle school students after regular school hours. The ideal candidate actively connects with students individually and in groups, encourages positive peer engagement, and understands the unique developmental needs of middle school youth.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Activity Leadership & Supervision: Plan and lead a variety of recreational activities, including outdoor games, board games, and creative projects, ensuring balanced engagement for all participants.
  • Student Interaction & Care: Interact with students in a supervisory capacity, maintaining a warm, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere while maintaining appropriate safety and behavioral expectations.
  • Academic Support: Serve as a resource for students needing guidance, encouragement, or occasional assistance with homework and academic assignments.
  • Student Engagement: Proactively connect with students, encouraging participation in group activities while remaining attentive and responsive to individual student needs.
  • Program Support: Collaborate with the Program Director and team members to ensure smooth daily transitions, effective supervision, and proper care of program resources and facilities.
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to commit to the designated schedule (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM) on all scheduled school days throughout the academic year.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to connect authentically with middle school-aged youth.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred:
  • Prior experience working with children or youth in an educational, recreational, camp, or after-school environment.
