Are you enthusiastic about hospitality, people, and beautiful places? By working at Yellowstone National Park, you will get all three! As the Historic Preservation Crew Craftsperson, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day maintenance functions that keep the park running smoothly.

Job Summary:

The Historic Preservation Crew (HPC) Craftsperson is responsible for performing skilled craftsmanship and maintenance work in support of preservation projects throughout Yellowstone National Park’s historic structures. Reporting to the HPC Crew Foreman and Lead, the Craftsperson completes assigned work orders with high-quality workmanship while ensuring the care, safe operation, and security of all tools and equipment.

Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: July 2026 - October 2026
Pay: $21.50 - $23.70/hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for quality craftsmanship work through assigned work orders and Tasks.
  • Assists with the care, maintenance and security of all assigned equipment and tools.
  • Responsible for working safely and complying with all current related codes and regulations.

Qualifications
  • 5 years extensive carpentry skills and or 3 years historic preservation experience or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of the National Park Service “Secretary of the Interior Standards” and how they apply to work in Yellowstone Park.
  • Preferred to have formal training in at least one aspect of historic preservation.
  • Competent knowledge about the operation and safe use of all carpentry tools and equipment common to trade.

Physical Requirements include:

  • This position will require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations, including a clean-shaven face and to be able to pass a DOT physical.
  • Must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Must possess physical stamina to withstand heavy labor related to work in an outside environment.
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time as required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • You must be able to read, understand, interpret and comply with all Xanterra’s company policies and procedures.
