Job Summary:We're hiring Ski Shop Instructors/Guides at Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Mammoth Hot Springs. Experience the "secret season" of Yellowstone - an unforgettable winter adventure awaits!

The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: Early December 2026 - Mid March 2027Pay: $16.25/hourlySchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Performs ski shop duties and gift shop duties as assigned (ski rentals, repairs, retail sales, visitor information) with a focus on promoting, selling and leading tours within established standards and with an emphasis on customer safety and satisfaction.
  • Actively develop and maintain knowledge of Yellowstone Park winter operations, specific location winter operations, and trails.
  • Provide interpretive tours with an emphasis on providing accurate and relevant park information.
  • Must stay current on ski trail and snowshoe trail conditions, weather information, tour status, etc. to provide the most accurate information to the park visitors.
  • Must maintain effective cooperation with co-workers and be as helpful as possible to park visitors.
  • Provide excellent guest service by adhering to Xanterra's Hospitality Standards.
  • Comply with Xanterra's Environmental Management Systems and look for ways to improve the impact your job has on the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of cross-country skiing techniques and basic snow shoeing techniques with an emphasis on cross country skiing.
  • Knowledge of winter safety practices.
  • Able to clearly communicate safety, interpretive, and instructive information to guests.
  • Able to perform duties with a minimal amount of supervision; excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Current first aid and CPR training is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Able to operate company vehicles safely. May include car, van, snowcoach or snowmobile under seasonal conditions. Must have a safe driving record for the past three years.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Must be capable of working in cold weather conditions. Able to work outside in temperatures as low as -10 F.ย 
  • Must be capable of performing strenuous tasks such as shoveling snow orย ย  removing logs or other large objects from the trail
  • Must be capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform strenuous aerobic activity daily at park elevations.ย 
  • Must be able to break trails for guests when needed.ย
