Staff members help run activities, maintain camp facilities, and support special events or school programs. It’s a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in an outdoor, community-focused environment year-round.

What does a typical day look like for someone working at a year round camp?

A typical day at a year-round camp involves planning and leading activities such as sports, arts and crafts, nature hikes, or team-building exercises tailored to campers' ages and interests. Staff may also supervise meals, manage cabin groups, and handle administrative responsibilities like attendance and safety checks. Collaboration with other team members is essential to coordinate schedules, address camper needs, and ensure a smooth operation. The role is dynamic, often requiring flexibility to adjust plans based on weather, group dynamics, and special events. This variety makes each day unique and rewarding for those who enjoy working in energetic, outdoor-focused environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the year round camp position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Year Round Camp role, you need experience in youth development, activity planning, and group leadership, often supported by certifications in first aid, CPR, and sometimes lifeguarding or outdoor education. Excellent communication, flexibility, and conflict resolution skills help team members succeed in dynamic camp environments. These abilities ensure camper safety, high-quality programming, and a positive, inclusive atmosphere throughout the year.

Job description

The Center for Courageous Kids (CCK) is a world-class camp serving children with serious illness and their families since February, 2008. Our year-round camp programs have served over 43,000 campers from 46 states and 13 countries. We serve children who typically would not be able to attend camp due to their illness and financial constraints. CCK provides respite and support for these children and their families and is designed exclusively for the use of an underserved and medically fragile population. The children and families who attend CCK are able to experience activities like horseback riding, boating, fishing, rock climbing and bowling with no limitations or barriers. CCK family retreats and summer camp sessions are offered at NO COST to the children and families we serve.
CCK seeks a Kitchen Steward to be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly kitchen and dining environment while assisting with food preparation and meal service.
