About the Position

As a Proposal Writer, you will coordinate the full life cycle of proposal development, organization, and production. You will review requests for proposals (RFPs) to identify and interpret requirements and help our team pursue qualifying projects, bringing strong technical and creative writing skills to every pursuit.

Primary Responsibilities

Proposal Development & Production

  • Coordinate the full life cycle of proposal development, organization, and production.
  • Review requests for proposals (RFPs) to identify and interpret requirements and help pursue qualifying projects.
  • Research and gather the materials and information needed to develop responsive, compelling proposals.
  • Provide technical writing, editing, production, and document management throughout each pursuit, including designing and producing proposals using Adobe InDesign.
  • Support the preparation of presentation and interview materials.
  • Assist with go/no-go evaluations to help prioritize pursuit opportunities.
  • Develop and track pursuit calendars, ensuring on-time delivery of all proposal components.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and teaming partners to gather and integrate content.
  • Support win theme development and tailoring of proposal narratives to client priorities.


Content & Resource Management

  • Work with the marketing team to prepare and maintain a library of project descriptions and staff bios.
  • Develop and maintain proposal templates, graphics, and content to ensure consistency with JDE brand standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers and technical staff to gather accurate, current project information.


Other

  • Maintain and expand professional capabilities through continuing education and industry involvement.


Experience & Certifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of proposal writing experience.
  • Experience in the A/E/C (architecture, engineering, or construction) industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement processes, including RFPs, RFQs, and SF-330 submissions.
  • Technical and creative writing and desktop publishing skills.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical and creative writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Desktop publishing and document production skills (e.g., Adobe InDesign and Acrobat).
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple proposals and deadlines under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and brand consistency.
