What You Will Do:

The Behavior Specialist works within the wraparound philosophy to support behavior strategies and provide 1:1 behavioral intervention and rehab services to participants/participant families. The Behavior Specialist is responsible for 1:1 direct service to youth, young adults, parents/caregivers in their natural environments, documentation of services, collaboration with community and
mental health professionals and participating in group and individual supervision. Additional responsibilities include providing crisis management, clinical case management, administrative functions, and being on call as needed. The Behavior Specialist is active in supporting and implementing wraparound philosophy, trauma informed care model and its individualized, strengths-based, culturally competent, family-centered approach to behavioral, evidence-based
intervention.

Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health related field.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or competency with electronic clinical documentation systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, triage and organize work.
  • Participant, case management or record keeping experience.
  • Demonstrated communication skills in describing behaviors and interventions in writing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the developmental milestones of children, youth, or young adults to provide to provide care, treatment and services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of individual/family/group behavioral health
    rehabilitation methods for target population of program.
  • Theoretical understanding or experience in behavioral approaches to treatment.
  • Experience with or knowledge of designing, supervising, monitoring, changing, and discontinuing individualized behavioral interventions.
  • Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the participant,
    program and /or Agency.
  • Possess a valid California Driver's license with a good driving record or the ability to
    obtain one within 10 days of hire.
  • Must have access to dependable transportation and personal car insurance, meeting minimum liability coverage required for position if driving for work or transporting participants.


Preferred

  • B.A. Degree in a relevant field
  • Four (4) years' experience in mental health related field.
  • Prior youth mentoring/advocacy experience
  • Fluency in prevailing language(s) of community where Clinician will work preferred
