Job description

Worthington Steel is seeking an experienced, creative and highly organized communications and marketing professional to help strengthen our brand and tell our story across digital, earned and corporate communications channels.

The Manager, Integrated Marketing & Communications will lead content development and editorial planning across Worthington Steel's corporate website and social media channels while supporting broader digital marketing, media relations and investor relations initiatives. This role will help bring together marketing and communications priorities through an integrated approach to storytelling, audience engagement, digital performance and brand management.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and storyteller who is naturally curious, comfortable interviewing employees, leaders and technical subject matter experts, and skilled at translating complex topics into clear, compelling content. Just as importantly, this person is a strong project manager who can independently manage multiple priorities, identify new opportunities and move projects from concept through execution.

This position will also play an important role in the development, launch and ongoing growth of Worthington Steel's new corporate website.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Strategy and Storytelling

  • Develop and maintain an integrated editorial calendar across Worthington Steel's website, social media and other external communications channels.

  • Proactively identify and recommend stories and content opportunities that support business priorities, customer relationships, employee engagement, recruitment and brand awareness.

  • Build relationships with employees, leaders and subject matter experts throughout the organization to uncover compelling stories and business developments.

  • Research, interview and write engaging content for the corporate website, social media and other digital platforms.

  • Translate technical, operational and business topics into clear and compelling content for a range of audiences.

  • Ensure content consistently reflects Worthington Steel's brand voice, key messages and editorial standards.

  • Develop creative concepts and content briefs, including recommendations for photography, graphics and video.

  • Partner with internal teams, agencies, designers, photographers and other creative resources to produce high-quality content.

Website, SEO & Digital Performance
  • Manage corporate website content through the company's content management system.

  • Publish and maintain website content to ensure accuracy, consistency, relevance and a strong user experience.

  • Conduct regular website content audits and recommend opportunities to update, improve, consolidate or develop new content.

  • Apply SEO/GEO/AEO best practices and tools such as BrightEdge to improve organic visibility and content performance.

  • Support content strategy, migration, optimization and quality assurance associated with the development and launch of Worthington Steel's new corporate website.

  • Monitor digital and industry trends and recommend opportunities to strengthen Worthington Steel's digital presence.

Social Media

  • Manage Worthington Steel's corporate social media presence, including editorial planning, content development, scheduling and publishing.

  • Manage social content through platforms such as Hootsuite.

  • Identify opportunities to increase engagement and extend the reach of company stories and business priorities.

  • Support paid social media campaigns through platforms such as LinkedIn Campaign Manager and Meta Business Suite.

  • Monitor channel performance, audience engagement, competitive activity and emerging trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Digital Marketing & Analytics
  • Partner with marketing colleagues to support integrated digital campaigns that increase awareness, engagement and qualified sales leads.

  • Track website, social media and campaign performance using Google Analytics, BrightEdge, native social media analytics and other digital platforms.

  • Prepare regular performance reports that clearly communicate key metrics, trends, insights and recommended actions.

  • Use data and audience insights to improve content strategy, SEO, social media and digital campaign performance.

  • Support testing and optimization of paid and organic digital campaigns.

  • Conduct online research to identify relevant customer, competitor, market and industry trends.

  • Provide recommendations for digital content and campaigns based on performance data and business priorities.

Trade Media Relations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant trade and industry media.

  • Identify company, product, customer and industry stories with earned-media potential.

  • Develop story angles and proactively pitch appropriate opportunities to trade media.

  • Coordinate interviews between reporters and Worthington Steel leaders and subject matter experts.

  • Assist with media materials, messaging and follow-up as needed.

  • Monitor industry coverage and emerging topics for opportunities or reputational considerations.

Investor Relations & Corporate Communications Support
  • Support select investor relations activities under the direction of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations leadership.

  • Assist with the development and production of investor presentations and other supporting materials.

  • Provide content development, research, editing and project support for earnings and other investor communications as needed.

  • Support additional corporate communications priorities and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.

  • 7 + years of professional experience in communications, content marketing, digital communications, integrated marketing or a related field.

  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with demonstrated ability to develop compelling content for multiple audiences and channels.

  • Strong editorial judgment and demonstrated ability to independently identify and develop story ideas.

  • Experience interviewing executives, employees, technical experts or other subject matter experts.

  • Experience managing corporate website content through a CMS.

  • Experience managing corporate social media channels and developing social content.

  • Working knowledge of SEO/GEO/AEO and digital content optimization.

  • Experience using digital analytics to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence working with employees and leaders at multiple levels of an organization.

  • Familiarity with AP style.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing and managing editorial calendars and integrated content strategies.

  • Experience with enterprise SEO platforms such as BrightEdge.

  • Experience with Google Analytics, Hootsuite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Meta Business Suite or similar platforms.

  • Experience supporting paid digital or social media campaigns.

  • Experience working with photographers, designers, agencies and video production partners.

  • Exposure to financial communications or public-company communications.
