Job description

Overview

The Operations Center Operator III / Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and optimizing oil and gas production from a centralized control room environment. This role supports production surveillance, artificial lift optimization, and real-time operational decision-making to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production across field assets.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and optimize production operations from a centralized control room (iOC/iOF environment)
  • Analyze real-time production data and adjust operating parameters to maximize output and efficiency
  • Support artificial lift optimization including rod pump, gas lift, plunger lift, compression, and chemical injection systems
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production and operational issues to minimize downtime and prevent repeat failures
  • Generate and validate daily production and recovery plans
  • Track production losses, downtime events, and performance metrics (LPRS tracking and monthly validation)
  • Coordinate with field operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to prioritize work and execute optimization strategies
  • Monitor stabilization units, trunk lines, central facilities, and lease operations
  • Conduct intelligent alert management, forecasting, and production model monitoring
  • Create work notifications, material requests, and support project prioritization
  • Coordinate oil trucking, well unloading, and chemical treatment scheduling
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and system updates (including well data and operational changes)
  • Assist in correcting production discrepancies within production accounting systems
  • Support budget targets by identifying cost improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of oil and gas operations experience, preferably in a control room or production surveillance environment
  • Strong understanding of production operations, facilities, and artificial lift systems
  • Experience with production monitoring systems and SCADA platforms
  • Familiarity with well data and production systems such as WellView and Avocet preferred
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make real-time operational decisions
  • Experience tracking production losses, downtime, and optimization efforts
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively across field and technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions within broad operational guidelines
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background check, drug test, and MVR check.
