What is a worship intern?

Worship interns are individuals, typically students or recent graduates, who assist with the planning and leading of worship services under the supervision of a worship pastor or director. Their responsibilities may include helping with music selection, rehearsing with worship teams, managing audio/visual equipment, and coordinating service logistics. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in church worship ministry, develop leadership skills, and deepen understanding of worship practices. Worship interns often have opportunities to learn about music ministry, spiritual formation, and church operations.

What can I expect when collaborating with worship leaders and other ministry staff as a worship intern?

As a Worship Intern, you’ll frequently collaborate with worship leaders, musicians, and other ministry staff to help plan and execute worship services. This often involves attending planning meetings, coordinating with volunteers, and assisting in the creative process for service elements such as music selection and multimedia. You'll also learn how to adapt to various leadership styles and support the broader goals of the ministry team. Open communication and flexibility are key, as you may be asked to help with last-minute changes or special events, giving you valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic church environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a worship intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Worship Intern, you need foundational musical skills, basic theological knowledge, and often some experience in leading or assisting worship services. Familiarity with worship planning software, sound systems, and presentation tools like ProPresenter is typically required. Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability help you connect with both team members and the congregation. These abilities are essential for fostering meaningful worship experiences and supporting the spiritual goals of the church community.

Job description

The Internship experience is designed to develop student athletes in discerning their calling and career while introducing them to various aspects of ministry through FCA. FCA Interns are collegiate volunteers who engage through FCA in a learning and developmental ministry experience during a summer or a semester. Interns who are serving through FCA are not employees and do not receive compensation by the hour or for production of their work. Interns serving with FCA may receive a nominal stipend for living related expenses during the course of the internship.
FCA internship experiences vary from location to locations; however, the primary goal of each internship is to develop the intern's understanding of his/her individual calling to ministry through related training and experience. Further information about each specific internship is available by contacting the FCA staff associated with this posting.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES
These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.
  • Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement.
  • Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA.

  • Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.

Ocoee FCA Intern
About FCA: The Fellowship of Christian Athletes exists to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. Our vision is to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. In the Ocoee Region, that means investing in the athletes, coaches, and teams across our four counties - building relationships that point kids and coaches toward Christ through the platform of sports.
Position Summary: The Ocoee FCA Intern will serve alongside our staff team to reach athletes and coaches from elementary school through the college level across our four-county region. This is a hands-on, relational ministry role - showing up at practices, games, huddles, and campus events to build trust and share the Gospel through the language of sport.
Responsibilities:
  • Build consistent presence at campuses and athletic programs across the region, from youth leagues to college teams
  • Assist in planning and leading Huddles, camps, and outreach events (e.g., Fields of Faith, sports camps, coaches' gatherings)
  • Support volunteer coaches and campus staff who lead FCA ministry at their schools
  • Help coordinate logistics for regional events and communications
  • Disciple student-athletes and mentor coaches in their walk with Christ
  • Represent FCA's mission with integrity in the community

Who We're Looking For: Someone with a heart for young people and sports, a growing relationship with Christ, and a willingness to serve behind the scenes as much as on the field. No specific athletic background required - just faithfulness, initiative, and a love for people.
