Job Description

Position Description:

We are looking for a passionate cyclist to lead our Road bike team who will report to the VP of Product. This person will define the vision of our Road, Gravel, and Triathlon products that our riders and retailers love. This dream job manages all of the Road business, from strategy and conception through design, development, and product launch. In addition, this position will lead varying activities that support the Road bike business as a whole.

Beyond leadership of the Road category, this role will also direct and manage Trek's premium custom bike program - Project One, including defining the program design, product offering, and overall customer experience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Defining the Vision for the Global Road, Gravel, and Triathlon Bike Business at Trek Bicycles
  • Directly Managing a Group of product managers and being the Leader of the broader development group.
  • Oversee development of Amazing Road Bike Products within sub-categories by establishing key targets for product positioning, performance parameters, functionality and cost.
  • Define product specifications, establish milestones, and manage quality assurance activities for a cross-functional development team
  • Define success metrics for new projects and track the performance of existing products to ensure the team is moving towards defined goals.
  • Organize and plan details for multiple projects and make timely and quick decisions in order to meet project deadlines. Manage daily actions of the development team as well as drive design efforts (internal or external) so that the vision for the line is accurately executed.
  • Other duties include market research, sales analysis etc.
  • An understanding of creation and maintenance of the entire Product Line, including SKU information, Bike Model BOM's, preliminary forecasting, cost targets and key features/benefits.
  • Maintain line logic that will result in the product line meeting targets for simplicity and business growth using market feedback along with sales and production data.
  • Travel to partners, tradeshows, dealers, ride research, and consumer events to research and track market trends. (5-7 trips per year)

What you'll bring to the profession:

  • Bicycle industry experience required and prior leadership experience
  • This individual must have a demonstrated work history of team collaboration and the ability to make their teammates excel.
  • Successful candidate must be able to separate what they think versus what is needed by the market.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of organization.
  • Display strong organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks and manage priorities in a focused but flexible manner.
  • Must have great attention for detail
  • Display strong Mechanical understanding with bikes
  • Possess a love for all things Cycling
  • Be able to present in front of varying groups of all sizes. And have a good understanding of how to use Powerpoint to communicate at an executive level.
