Professionals in event management for World Triathlon competitions often encounter challenges such as coordinating logistics across multiple venues, ensuring athlete and spectator safety, and managing tight timelines. The role requires close collaboration with local authorities, sports governing bodies, and numerous volunteers to deliver a seamless event. Adaptability and strong communication skills are essential, as unexpected changes such as weather disruptions or last-minute schedule adjustments are common. Overcoming these challenges provides valuable experience and can open doors to higher-level roles in international sports event management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a triathlon coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Triathlon Coach, you need a deep understanding of endurance training, sports science, and often a background in competitive triathlon, supported by relevant coaching certifications. Familiarity with training software like TrainingPeaks, heart rate monitors, and GPS-based tracking systems is important for planning and monitoring athlete progress. Excellent communication, motivational skills, and adaptability help coaches build trust and tailor programs to individual athletes. These skills and qualities are crucial for optimizing athlete performance, ensuring safety, and fostering long-term athlete development.

What is a World Triathlon athlete?

Job description

Description
Competitive triathletes and passionate bakers, Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald left their careers to open a small bread shop in New York City in 1995 - Levain Bakery.
One day, they baked a BIG chocolate chip walnut cookie as energy for triathlon training. At Levain, a batch of these 6-ounce cookies flew off the shelves, and an icon was born. The cozy shop on West 74th Street became a neighborhood favorite and a destination for epicurious visitors from around the world, hungry for "the cookie."
From the start, Pam, Connie, and the team baked everything fresh on-site each day, donating the day's leftovers to charity - and we still do, nearly 30 years later. Today, Levain has bakeries across the country (with more to come!), plus ecommerce gift boxes to treat cookie lovers in every state.
Our Vision: To give rise to lifelong memories
Our Mission: To bring together people who treat their work and the craft of baking and all who come to visit with great care.
Every day, we strive to embody our company's five core values:
  • Welcome All- We are all in it together
  • Work Hard and Be Kind- We pull our weight, we do our best, and take care of each other
  • Lead with Heart- We operate with empathy and integrity
  • Rise Up- We take initiative to make things better
  • Savor It- We are present and find the fun!
THE ROLE: COMMISSARY SCALER
The Commissary Cookie Scaler ensures every cookie meets Levain's signature 6-ounce standard. Working with precision and speed, the Cookie Scaler plays a critical role in shaping our world-famous dough, tray by tray. This is a highly active role ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to upholding food safety standards.
What We're Looking For:
  • Strong attention to detail; able to spot and report inconsistencies in dough or measurements
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills; team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and care: be adaptable, flexible, and patient
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and punctual
  • Be open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement
  • Results-oriented approach with the ability to deliver against daily production schedules
  • Resilient and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with passion and patience for creating consistent, high-quality products
  • Embody and promote the values and standards of Levain Bakery
Job Responsibilities:
Team Collaboration:
  • Lead with curiosity and compassion by showing care for your co-workers and build meaningful connections that broaden your perspective
  • Display a strong sense of teamwork: Work collaboratively with team members to ensure cleanliness and efficiency in the commissary
  • Facilitate open, clear, and timely communication with your team members and management
  • Stay informed about new products, procedures, and promotions
Production & Efficiency
  • Oversee daily lot code tracking, ensuring labels are printed accurately and distributed to the scaling team; labels must include the scaler's name and date for proper batch identification
  • Ensure the production room is properly set up each day, with all equipment ready and operational before production begins
  • Support the scaling team by overseeing prep activities - while not handling ingredients directly, ensure readiness for efficient production flow
  • Accurately weigh and portion cookie dough to meet our 6-ounce standard
  • Portion dough manually to ensure consistent shaping
  • Partner closely with Mixers and team members to maintain production flow and meet daily targets
  • Collaborate with team members to stay aligned on pacing and production goals
Workplace Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and uniform standards
  • Actively identify and prevent unsafe practices; report concerns to management
  • Demonstrate thoughtful, safe work habits across all commissary operations
Requirements:
  • Experience in professional food manufacturing operation preferred
  • Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices
  • Open availability: ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends as dictated by seasonal or business needs
  • Ability to lift/push up to 55+ pounds, including overhead
  • Stand/walk for an 8-hour shift (excluding a ยฝ hour break); some locations require walking up and down stairs
Compensation & Benefits
  • $17-21/hour
  • Health, Vision, Dental Insurance
  • Employer-funded Healthcare Reimbursement Account
  • Additional supplemental benefits: Commuter Benefits, Employee Assistance Program, Bike-Share Reimbursement
  • 14 Weeks Fully Paid Parental Leave
  • One Week of Paid Time Off
  • 401K with 3.5% Company Match

We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.
