Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$38.16 - $59.15 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Registered Nurse Employee Health

The RN Employee Health plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of team members across the organization. This position is responsible for performing pre-placement screenings, conducting return to work clearances, fit for duty evaluations, and annual health screenings and assessments. This role demonstrates the ability to multi-task and reflects clinical experience incorporating initiative, flexibility, team effort, and responsibility indicative of professional expectations with minimum supervision. Effectively interacts with the Endeavor Health workforce, Human Resources, medical staff, and management, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing, and provides professional nursing care in accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act and Hospital policies and procedures.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Registered Nurse Employee Health

  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital (Arlington Heights, IL)

  • Full Time/Part Time: Part-time (20 hours per week)

  • Hours: Shifts can be scheduled Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

  • Required Travel: travel to other Endeavor Health sites may be required for meetings or coverage

What you will do:

  • Responsible for performing pre-placement screenings to employed and contingent worker groups which includes; reviewing serology documentation and vaccine history, provides immunizations, tuberculosis surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, and respirator fit testing, as required to ensure compliance with all post offer health requirements.

  • Communicates regularly with candidates, Human Resources, and management on clearance status.

  • Conducts annual TB surveillance and Respirator Fit Testing (RFT) for team members flagged in the system.

  • Participates in annual mass vaccination programs to support seasonal flu and covid-19 vaccinations to the Endeavor Health workforce.

  • Manages immunization compliance and testing for catch-up programs.

  • Reviews lab results, enters data into medical record system, reaches out to non-compliant team members.

  • Performs occupational exposure follow-up to communicable diseases.

  • Performs initial telephone interviews, triages exposed team members, reviews test results, and determines appropriate follow-up care.

  • Responsible for intake calls for blood and body fluid exposures, that involves triage, ordering labs, charting in medical record, creates follow up appointments and provides additional education to team members.

  • Provides rotating on-call coverage for work related exposures and ILI symptom screenings during non-business hours (includes Blood & Body Fluid exposures, communicable diseases, and symptom screenings).

  • Responds to calls in a timely manner- will respond to the call/page within 15 minutes of the notification.

  • Educates exposed team members on process during off hours- including documenting work-related exposures, medical treatment plan, lab results, and accessing post-exposure prophylaxis, if needed.

  • Screens team members for symptoms following a communicable disease illness.

  • Evaluates physician's notes and/or discharge summaries to verify restrictions, if any are clearly stated, and assess if they align with the job duties.

  • Compares team member's current health status to the physical and mental demands of their role and partner with Employee Health provider to determine if team member can return to work with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Communicates return to work status and any required accommodations/restrictions to managers, as appropriate

  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records. Documents all activity accurately and timely within the electronic management system (Team Member Health) in accordance with internal policies and state regulations.

  • Provides patient care in compliance with NPSG and Core Measures. Maintains continuous Joint Commission readiness. Complies with HIPAA regulations. Identifies and supports patient safety and infection control protocols.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing or Healthcare/Science in state of Illinois.

  • Certification:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois

    • Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) - American Heart Association (AHA) required

    • Certified in Urine Drug Screening, Breath Alcohol Testing, and Hair Drug Screening procedures (at time of hire or within 3 months of hire).

  • Experience: 3+ years of clinical nursing experience

  • Unique or Preferred Skills:

    • Phlebotomy skills (at time of hire or within 3 months of hire).

    • Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record.

    • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.

    • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.

    • Ability to provide counseling and emotional support with compassion and respect for the individual.

    • Ability to provide support to the members of the care team (teamwork).

    • Possess initiative and ability to work independently.

    • Flexibility and transportation necessary to travel between various sites throughout Endeavor Health.

    • Models confidentiality and professional discretion in all communication and exchanges of information.
