Job summary:

Acrisure is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Supervisor to lead a team of claims professionals specializing in workers' compensation claims for municipal entities and self-insured clients. This leadership role is responsible for providing technical expertise, coaching adjusters, and ensuring claims are managed in accordance with company standards, client expectations, and applicable state regulations.

Working closely with the Regional Director, the Workers' Compensation Supervisor will oversee claim quality, provide guidance on complex claim matters, and support the continued development of a team of approximately four to six claims professionals. This position requires extensive workers' compensation expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders while delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 4 to 6 workers' compensation claims professionals
  • Review, assign, and oversee claim activity to ensure compliance with company standards, client handling instructions, and applicable state regulations
  • Provide technical guidance on complex workers' compensation claims involving compensability, coverage, litigation, reserving, settlements, subrogation, and benefit administration
  • Review and approve reserve changes, settlement authority, and other claim decisions within established authority levels
  • Monitor claim quality, productivity, and workloads while supporting timely and accurate claim resolution
  • Oversee litigation management, vendor utilization, and cost containment strategies to achieve quality claim outcomes
  • Ensure timely statutory filings, accurate documentation, financial reporting, and proper claim coding
  • Support claims involving municipalities, public entities, and self-insured programs while ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor claim recoveries, including subrogation, Second Injury Fund recoveries, Social Security offsets, and Medicare-related recoveries
  • Lead team meetings, establish accountability, and provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and developing claims professionals
  • Assist the Regional Director with workload balancing, claim reviews, operational planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in client meetings, claim reviews, and stewardship discussions while building strong relationships with clients, brokers, insureds, and internal business partners
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
  • 5 to 7 years of workers' compensation claims handling experience required
  • Extensive experience handling lost time workers' compensation claims required
  • Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws, claims administration, litigation management, reserving, settlements, subrogation, and cost containment required
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, leading, or coaching claims professionals strongly preferred
  • Experience managing claims for municipal entities, public sector employers, or self-insured programs highly beneficial
  • Multi-state workers' compensation claims experience beneficial
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, brokers, insureds, and internal stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims management systems required
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, claim reviews, and business needs
Education and licenses:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field beneficial
  • Active Workers' Compensation Adjuster License beneficial
  • Industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, ARM, WCCA, or similar professional certifications considered an asset
