To thrive as a Work RN (Registered Nurse in an occupational or workplace health setting), you need a nursing degree, RN licensure, and a solid understanding of occupational health and safety principles. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), workplace safety protocols, and possibly certifications like COHN or COHN-S is beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and the ability to educate and advocate for employee health set exceptional Work RNs apart. These skills are critical for ensuring employee well-being, managing workplace injuries, and creating a safe, healthy work environment.

How does a Work RN typically collaborate with other healthcare professionals during a shift?

A Work RN (Registered Nurse) regularly collaborates with physicians, nurse practitioners, technicians, and other allied health staff to ensure coordinated patient care. This collaboration often involves participating in multidisciplinary rounds, communicating changes in patient status, and contributing to care planning discussions. Effective teamwork and clear communication are essential, as RNs often serve as the primary liaison between patients and the broader healthcare team. This collaborative approach helps ensure that patient needs are met promptly and treatment plans are executed efficiently.
