Scope of Work

Assist in administering routine respiratory care services; is responsible for the performance of respiratory procedures commonly used in assigned areas; Work under the general supervision of a licensed respiratory care practitioner. Actual duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the patient unit assigned; provide excellent health care to all clients in Lakeland throughout their developmental life cycle.

  • Deliver respiratory procedures as prescribed by physicians, under the direct supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Document according to policy, all pertinent information on respiratory care rendered.
  • Ensure patent airway and adequate ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor respiratory monitoring equipment under direct supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Process respiratory equipment for sterilization and provides necessary preventive maintenance.
  • Contribute to the effective communication needs of the patient care team. Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service.
  • Maintain commitment to professional growth and competency. Adhere to the organization's published values.
  • Contribute to the productivity of the department and proper coverage as assigned by management, i.e. facility assignment, unit assignment, schedule call, etc.
Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited respiratory therapy program pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy. May be a recent graduate having earned an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program. Required
  • Respiratory Therapy student who has completed at least 1 year in an accredited respiratory therapy program. Preferred
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
