Job description

Position:
  • Wireline Laborer

Department:
  • Operations

Location:
  • Various/Field-Based

Direct Report
  • General Manager

Purpose:
  • The Wireline Laborer assists in the safe operation of the wireline truck at the service location, rigging up the wireline truck and crane (as applicable) at the service location and assisting with all wireline operations both in the shop and in the field. The Wireline operator operates and maintains the assigned truck and equipment, as well, keeps records for the overall operation.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in load-out and pre-job checks for jobs as directed.
  • Assists in preparation of documents for DOT travel.
  • Assists in preparation of documentation for maintenance of fleet vehicles prior to travel.
  • Assists in rigging up and rigging down of wireline equipment for well site operations.
  • Assists in the preparation of the wireline unit and calibration of equipment.
  • Assists in the assemblies of perforating guns and rebuild of setting tools in various field and shop locations as needed.
  • Performs meter checks on perforating guns prior to use in field.
  • Guides surface tools during wireline operations as instructed.
  • Performs operational tasks in man/personnel basket as directed.
  • Assists in troubleshooting of tools and equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintains assigned wireline unit, tools, equipment and facilities in a neat, workable condition and conducts self in an exemplary manner at all times as directed.
  • Immediately reports damaged inoperable, unsafe and inadequate tools, equipment, fleet or materials to supervisor.
  • Immediately reports any and all malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Is available to perform duties on short notice, day or night, while on duty.
  • Drives company wireline units, cranes, pickups and pickups pulling trailers as directed.
  • Ensures that all safety practices are implemented before, during and after the well service operation.
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Licenses or Certifications:
  • CDL Class B License with hazmat endorsement is preferred but not required

Experience:
  • 2 or more years of oil/gas experience, wireline experience is preferred

Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong personal computer skills with the ability to effectively utilize: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Excel, and industry associated bidding programs
  • Ability to meet fast paced, changing schedules and their associated deadlines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT driver's physical exam card

Travel:
  • Must be willing to travel

Physical Requirements:
  • The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done
  • Ability to sit for 30 minutes to 6 hours while driving
  • Ability to stand for 30 minutes-1 hour while unloading vehicle
  • Ability to walk to and from the vehicle (50 to 300 feet at one time)
  • Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting into and out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10' or more in height
  • Visually seeing driving operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing and sitting
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Working at elevated heights
  • Lifting 50 lb. objects occasionally
  • Carrying 50 lb. objects occasionally
  • Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions
