General Expectations: This position is fully in-person during the event. Scheduling will be based on event and departmental needs and coordinated with the Production Team. Occasional in-person meetings prior to the event may be required. Any external commitments that could impact shift availability should be communicated to your supervisor as early as possible.
Compensation:$22/hr
Benefits: This is a part-time position during Outfest's reconstruction phase. As such, no traditional benefits (such as health insurance or paid time off) are currently offered.
This position is non-exempt and all authorized hours worked will be paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.
Roles and Responsibilities
Position Summary: The Production Assistant supports OutfestNEXT event operations to ensure a smooth, professional, and efficient production environment. Working closely with the Production Manager and Operations team, this role assists with venue setup, equipment movement, inventory tracking, and on-site troubleshooting across festival locations. This is a physically active role requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments to execute daily event needs.
- Support event production, including setup and teardown of:
- Signage, step & repeats, stanchions, audience flow elements
- Bar setups, seating plans, tech equipment, and decor
- Assist with inventory movement and asset tracking for all event equipment and materials.
- Participate in vehicle loading/unloading and transportation of supplies between venues.
- Conduct event site checks to ensure readiness prior to opening doors.
- Maintain quality control and cleanliness of festival venues and staff spaces.
- Assist Theater Managers and Front of House teams with line management and load-in needs.
- Run errands and on-site tasks assigned by Production Manager or Operations leads.
- Communicate efficiently with staff, volunteers, and venue teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Ensure safety practices are followed during all production and logistics activities.
Qualifications
- Experience working in event production or festival operations preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to take initiative, follow directions, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Professionalism and strong communication skills when engaging with staff, partners, and audiences.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labor tasks regularly.
- Valid California driver's license preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace; familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar tools a plus.
