Fine Wine Sales Representative
Territory: Metro West Massachusetts
Description:
M.S. Walker is looking for an experienced Fine Wine Sales Representative for the Metro West area of Massachusetts on our Boston Wine Company team. This role will serve our premier accounts in the Metro West area and be an ideal position for an individual who has a passion for fine wine, and demonstrated skill for supporting top-tier clients. Responsibilities include achieving maximum sales profitability by selling products to customers and soliciting new business for the company along with providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
  • Contact new and existing premier retail and restaurant customers to discuss their product needs through a relationship-based approach
  • Quote prices and answer customer questions about products, prices and availability
  • Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers' needs and on knowledge of product
  • Maintain customer records using automated system
  • Prepare sales contracts for orders obtained, and submit orders for processing
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies or marketing information
  • Coordinate efforts with sales administration and purchasing on contract orders
  • Understand a comprehensive knowledge of fine wine varietals and international wines in addition to all M. S. Walker products, including current prices, vintages, regional identity, awards and press
  • Hold weekly in-person review with each customer account for items to be replenished; Present all current programs, quota items, and company initiatives
  • Strategize on how best to achieve sales and merchandising objectives on a monthly basis; Maintain accurate historical account purchase information; Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales growth in line with stated overall Boston Wine Company sales goals
  • Communicate with Management on all sales issues, inventory levels and out of stock situations due to possible fluctuations in demand
  • Maintain professional and industry knowledge by attending educational workshops, trade shows, conventions, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks
  • Ability to prospect, research and cold-call on restaurants, catering organizations, and large-scale hospitality organizations
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities in order to be successful in this role:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years experience in wine and spirits industry
  • At least 3 years of fine wine experience
  • At least 3 years of selling fine wine to premier clients in a Boston territory
  • At least 5 years of wine and spirits sales experience
  • Experience in conducting staff training seminars on food and fine wine pairing, orchestrating promotional events, such as wine tastings and dinners
  • Experience in developing wine lists and profitable beverage programs for premier and luxury accounts
  • Relationship building and selling skills a must
  • Ability to lift up to 45lbs. occasionally
  • Active driver's license

Pay Range: The salary is commission based with an estimated annual earnings range of $65,000-$80,000.
