Job Description
  • Understands the company's vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
  • Manages technical support staff, which includes allocating tasks, managing workload to optimize time, customer satisfaction, disciplinary action and personal development of staff.
  • Responsible for the purchase, installation and life-cycle maintenance of all systems based equipment.
  • Provides escalated on-site support of hardware, software and network connectivity issues.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of staff, key users and/or consultants in cross-organizational and cross-functional teams of various size & scope.
  • Continuously updates Business Leadership & Senior IT Management on incident management issues/resolution & next steps
  • Manages vendor relationships to understand new technologies and leverage existing technologies.
  • Develops, maintains and implements standards, policies, and procedures for the IT Infrastructure that ensures authorized use and compliance.
  • Reports and tracks metrics related to server, storage and related systems.
  • Understands the current environment, create a vision for the future, and execute / implements the vision
  • Demonstrated experience with standard software applications, including Microsoft Windows Server, VMWare virtualization software
  • Enterprise level Active Directory Experience and supporting Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012.
  • Extensive experience in DFS/DFS R in Windows Server 2012 production environments.
  • Experience with SolarWinds server monitoring and alerting
  • Experience with VMWare Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Extensive experience with Exchange 2003, 2010, O365
  • Experience implementing and maintaining an enterprise DNS, WINS & DHCP environment.
  • Leads team; selects/hires; develops objectives; coaches and evaluates performance. Ensures direct reports obtain applicable training and development opportunities to enhance performance, development, and contributions to the company. Holds direct reports accountable for individual and team performance. Addresses performance issues appropriately and timely.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Any of the following certifications a plus: MSCE, CCNP, CCSP, CISSP
  • BS / BA Degree in related field preferred. MS / MA / MBA a plus.
  • 7+ years experience; 5+ year w/ MS/MA/MBA.
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems and maintenance. Working knowledge of data center operations support. Ability to work independently, creatively & analytically in a high-paced, problem-solving environment. Familiar with current IT best practices, methodologies & tools. Experience in large, multi-vendor IT enterprise environments. Must have strong leadership skills. Must be capable of leading teams of entry level personnel and teams of experienced technical personnel. Must be capable of managing team leads that directly manage people. Must be capable of building cross functional relationships across multiple areas of BlueLinx and attaining desired results.
  • Demonstrated experience with standard software applications, including Microsoft Windows Server, VMWare virtualization software
