Job description

Koniag IT Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator with an active TS/SCI Clearance to support and maintain secure, missioncritical IT environments for our government client. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

The Windows Systems Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining Microsoft Windows operating systems and related enterprise applications. The administrator will support heterogeneous environments that include both Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, ensuring system reliability, security compliance, and operational efficiency. The role includes system monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with crossfunctional teams to support mission and customer requirements.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Windows Server and desktop platforms, Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise system administration within classified environments. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple technical teams.
  • Provide Windows systems administration across multiple heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Install, configure, and manage Windows operating systems, applications, and enterprise software, including Microsoft Exchange, Office, SharePoint, and SCCM.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and other configuration management tools.
  • Apply and enforce security policies, procedures, and system hardening requirements to protect Windows systems and data.
  • Monitor system performance, identify areas for optimization, and implement improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Windows systems, applications, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and remediate underlying system problems.
  • Develop, maintain, and document technical configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience performing Windows system administration duties.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting Windows 11, Windows Server environments, and Active Directory.
  • Experience working in secure or classified environments requires strict compliance and documentation.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Handson experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise Windows administration.
  • Active and transferable Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Department of Defense Directive 8140 / 8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Experience with system hardening and STIG implementation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with VMware vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, or other virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS storage systems.
  • Understanding basic networking concepts, including subnets, routing, and VLANs; Cisco experience or certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux system administration (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred).
  • Experience creating and deploying Windows system images in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes.
