Job description

Hydraulics International, Inc. (HII) is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Desktop Support Technician to provide end-user technical support, maintain desktop and laptop systems, support Microsoft 365 services, and assist with cybersecurity and compliance initiatives.

This position supports approximately 250 users across four company locations operating within a single Active Directory domain environment. The Desktop Support Technician will work closely with the IT and Information Security teams to support compliance with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, CMMC Level 2, and company cybersecurity policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and related peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and network connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows 10 and Windows 11 workstations.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications and services, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VPN access, DUO Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and remote-access technologies.
  • Perform employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning, access changes, and equipment deployment or collection.
  • Document incidents, service requests, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts in Active Directory.
  • Manage security groups, distribution groups, and Microsoft 365 licenses.
  • Support password resets, account lockouts, and MFA enrollment.
  • Assist with Exchange Online mailbox administration.
  • Support Microsoft Intune and endpoint-management initiatives.

Hardware and Asset Management

  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs, equipment replacements, and vendor support.
  • Assist with IT asset lifecycle management, including deployment, maintenance, replacement, and disposal.

Network and Infrastructure Support

  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and general network-connectivity issues.
  • Support network printers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Identify and escalate complex server, network, and infrastructure issues to senior IT staff.

Cybersecurity and Compliance Support

  • Follow all company cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, and CMMC Level 2 compliance activities.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and required security-configuration standards.
  • Assist with endpoint protection, log collection, and audit-evidence gathering.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, technical records, and system records as assigned.
  • Participate in required security-awareness and compliance-training activities.

Documentation

  • Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Document workstation configurations, troubleshooting procedures, system changes, and support activities.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, current, and maintained in accordance with company standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of desktop-support experience within a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience supporting users across multiple company locations.
  • Strong customer-service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple service requests and priorities in a timely and professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting users within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, CMMC, or other cybersecurity and regulatory-compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and Exchange Online.
  • Familiarity with DUO MFA, Veeam, SharePoint Online, and endpoint-security solutions.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or applicable Microsoft certifications.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
