Job description

Description
Rankings is hiring a Digital PR Specialist to support earned media and brand growth for law firms in competitive markets.
We are looking for someone with 2 to 4 years of experience in digital PR or media relations who understands how to position attorneys as credible industry voices. This role focuses on securing meaningful media coverage that strengthens brand credibility, builds high-quality backlinks, and supports both SEO and AIO initiatives.
Digital PR in the legal space requires sound judgment, strong writing skills, and an understanding of how to balance compelling storytelling with professional standards (not giving legal advice). You should be comfortable working within fast-moving news cycles while also building proactive campaigns that generate consistent coverage.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain targeted media lists across legal, business, news, and industry publications
  • Develop relationships with journalists, editors, and contributors who cover legal and news topics
  • Write clear, tailored pitches that position attorneys as trusted sources
  • Execute proactive outreach campaigns to secure earned media placements
  • Identify relevant news opportunities and respond quickly with commentary
  • Create and distribute press releases covering firm announcements, verdicts, settlements, and partnerships
  • Claim, optimize, and maintain attorney and firm profiles across legal directories, and identify and submit clients for relevant legal awards and recognitions
  • Work closely with SEO and content teams to align PR efforts with brand goals
  • Draft and update press materials, expert commentary, and media messaging
  • Track outreach activity, placements, backlinks, and overall performance
  • Review campaign results and adjust strategy based on placement quality and impact
  • Help build scalable processes that strengthen long-term brand visibility for clients
  • Build Reddit karma for clients and publish/manage Wikipedia pages on their behalf
Requirements
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in Digital PR or Media Relations
  • Proven ability to secure placements in reputable publications
  • Experience earning backlinks through media coverage
  • Strong understanding of how to position clients as subject matter experts
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines when responding to timely news opportunities
  • Existing journalist relationships or a clear track record of building them
  • Experience working with law firms or other professional services firms preferred
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple campaigns at once
  • Working knowledge of Qwoted, HARO, MuckRack, Pitchbox (or Buzzstream)
  • Working knowledge of how earned media supports SEO/GEO growth
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • Background in journalism is a plus
What Sets You Apart
  • You have a proven track record of securing placements in reputable news publications
  • You have experience in Wikipedia page publishing or have made edits in the past.
  • You have experience contributing to and growing a presence on Reddit communities.
  • You can point to specific articles you have landed in recognized outlets
  • You maintain active relationships with journalists and editors, not just media lists
  • You understand what makes a pitch relevant, timely, and publishable
  • You consistently secure coverage that includes meaningful brand mentions or backlinks
  • You know how to tailor commentary so it meets newsroom standards and gets quoted
  • You have experience turning expert insights into published stories, not just sent pitches
  • You are confident in your ability to place stories in competitive media environments
  • You understand how to leverage digital PR and user-generated platforms to build brand credibility through cohesive strategy.
Benefits
  • Salary Range of $70k - $80k
  • Fully Remote
  • Unlimited PTO
  • $100 Wellness Reimbursement Program
  • Quarterly training stipend for Professional Development
  • 401(k) with 3% Employer match (Safe Harbor)
  • 100% Employer-Paid Health Insurance (For Employee)
