Job description
Stimson Lumber Company in Tillamook, Oregon is seeking a seasoned Saw Filer to join our team in our saw filing department. The position offers a great career opportunity for someone who possesses a desire to learn and become proficient in saw filing skills, is team-oriented and has good attention to detail. You will join and learn from a group that embrace innovation, continuous improvement and provide educational opportunities to continuously sharpen your technical skills.
Schedule:
Starting Pay: Base pay for this skilled position will start at $26.00 - $30.00 per hour. People with significant knowledge and experience may come in at a higher level,
Overtime: This position is eligible for Overtime at time and a half.
Commute Pay: All Mill employees receive a $350/month fringe benefit to help with the cost of commuting and transportation. This is the equivalent of another $2.00 per hour for full-time employees.
Healthcare: Stimson pays over 80% of the premiums for healthcare coverage for full-time employees, including medical, dental and vision.
401(k): Stimson provides a 100% match on the first 6% of your pay when you contribute to your 401(k) retirement account.
Profit Sharing: Contributions are deposited annually into your 401(k) account for Profit Sharing, up to 3% of your pay.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible and will receive a discretionary bonus in years when the company and location are profitable.
Paid Time-Off: Position offers 9 paid holidays and 2 weeks of paid vacation. Paid sick leave is available up to 40 hours per year.
Employee Referral program: Earn a $2500-$5,000 for successful employee referrals.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Be competent and proficient with multiple different saws but primarily files 1-2 types of saws.
- Maintain and repair saws and related equipment at the plant (repair cracks and replace teeth including carbide and swage tooth).
- Be able to bench both band and round saws. Complete required preventative maintenance tasks. Assist in machine center alignments.
- Handle all foundational saw filing duties and responsibilities. Provide direction for those requiring extensive experience or expert knowledge. Knife grinding as applicable at the plant.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 5+ years saw filing experience or has completed a filing trainee program, with certification.
- Demonstrated ability to: fit, bench and repair round saws and band saws and complete saw changes.
- Strong understanding of machines, saws and production flow.
- Ability to stand 8 - 10 hours per day, lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to complete repetitive upper body motions.
- Experience with swage, shape, hammer saws, changing edger saws and guides
