Job description

About the Role

Uptown Catering Company is seeking a reliable, high-energy Catering & Wholesale Logistics Specialist to manage two critical arms of our distribution: high-volume daily wholesale route distribution and high-touch corporate catering setups.

In this role, you manage logistics from the loading dock to the client table. You will operate our fleet—ranging from Ford F-150s and cargo vans to 16ft refrigerated box trucks (Reefers). Whether executing an early-morning wholesale route or setting up a high-profile corporate luncheon, you are the face of our company on the road, at delivery bays, and in executive boardrooms.

If you are a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in safe fleet operation, cold-chain food safety, and white-glove customer service, we want you on our team. Bilingual communication (English / Spanish) is a major plus!

Key Responsibilities

1. Wholesale Route Distribution & Fleet Operation

  • Route Execution: Safely and efficiently navigate Greater Houston routes to deliver scheduled wholesale orders to commercial accounts and venue partners on strict timelines.
  • Vehicle & Fleet Care: Drive F-150s, transit vans, and 16ft refrigerated box trucks (Non-CDL). Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintain fluid levels, and verify cargo reefer units maintain proper temperatures.
  • Loading & Unloading: Safely load, secure, and unload bulk food orders, thermal cambros, palleted goods, and catering equipment.

2. High-Touch Catering Logistics & On-Site Setup

  • Client Presentation: Deliver corporate drop-off catering orders directly to executive offices, boardrooms, and event venues.
  • Professional Setup: Unpack food, set up buffet lines, arrange display platters, light chafing dishes, and ensure pristine presentation before client handoff.
  • Client Service: Serve as a polite, polished, and solution-oriented point of contact for administrative assistants, corporate buyers, and venue managers.

3. Cold-Chain Integrity & Order Accuracy

  • Temperature Control: Maintain strict cold-chain integrity during transport, ensuring hot items stay hot and cold items remain under safe Houston Health Code temperatures.
  • Manifest Verification: Cross-check delivery manifests, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), invoice signatures, and pack-out lists before leaving the main kitchen to guarantee 100% order accuracy.
  • Gear Breakdown & Retrieval: Return to client sites post-event to break down setups, pack up catering gear, and return equipment safely to the facility.

What We Are Looking For

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License & Clean Record: Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with zero major violations.
  • Box Truck & Fleet Experience: Experience driving and maneuvering cargo vans, pickup trucks, and 16ft box trucks/reefers in urban traffic, tight loading docks, and venue bays (Class C driver's license required; CDL not required).
  • Physical Capability: Able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50–75 lbs repeatedly (cambros, sheet pan racks, food cases, and catering equipment).
  • Punctuality & Speed: Dependable and punctual. In commercial wholesale and high-touch catering, on-time delivery is essential.
  • Professional Presentation: Polished, well-groomed, and customer-service driven.
  • Communication: Clear, positive communicator. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a strong advantagefor coordinating between our kitchen team, dock workers, and clients.

Why Join the Uptown Team?

  • Competitive Pay: $18.00 – $22.00/hr + delivery tips on applicable catering setups.
  • Modern Fleet: Drive clean, well-maintained F-150s, cargo vans, and 16ft refrigerated box trucks.
  • Consistent Schedule: Full-time, steady hours in a growing commercial enterprise.
  • Growth Pathways: Opportunities to advance into Route Supervisor, Fleet Manager, or Operations Lead positions.
